5.0 out of 5 stars Very helpful for the not so great diyers as well

This device has helped us in doing the small home projects around the house. It works best with a tripod but as long as you can find something to put in on, it does the job. The laser light is bright enough to make your marks and hang up pictures or anything else. My husband hates home projects and this has made things a little less like we need counseling after completing something. Good price too!

Small, easy to use and is inexpensive. I used this to line up my recessed lights on the ceiling and it made the job so much easier and faster.

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good...BUT not quite great

I find the tool to be quite good; the lasers are bright enough for indoor work, and certainly cover a big distance well. The self-leveling works fine,
BUT, my complaint about it is that the locking slide switch for the leveling pendulum disturbs the pendulum. To put a level line up high on the wall, I had hoped to put it on the tripod, establish a level line, and then lock the leveler and using the tripod tilt function, angle the level up to a higher point. But when you try to lock the leveler, it can disturb the level and it is no longer level, and you would then be tilting a non-level line upwards!

Easy to use - an indispensable tool for home projects I had no problems with the instructions and found a few youtube videos that provided great instructions and suggestions. So far, there have been no issues with the unit.

3.0 out of 5 stars Works until it doesn't

I bought this last year and used it one time for hanging some photos, then put it in a drawer for a year. Now I take it out again and the top button doesn't work. The locking switch turns it on for some reason but it only works in free float mode now and the top button is useless. I wish I had just spent a little more for the Bosch GLL 30S instead of this single use POS

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great, but you NEED a tripod, too.

It is great and I like the self leveling. I was hoping to be able to tilt but it errors out and flashes if it's tilted. Needs to be mounted to a tripod or stand.

5.0 out of 5 stars INCREDIBLY Durable Instrument

I've used my traditional levels for years and purchased this level to use for a large multi-level deck build. I have a camera tripod which I used as a mount. I initially verified the calibration against my carpenter level and a plumb line and found it to be spot-on precise both horizontally and vertically.
Indoors, the beams were bright and easy to see all the way across the house.

When onsite for the outdoor deck build the laser was somewhat easy to see in
bright sunlight for only a few feet and becomes more obscure at greater distances. I chose to layout the footers (a 30 ft projection) just after dawn and had no trouble completing the task. Given the price point of this level, which is far lower than many others I looked at, it performs better than I expected.

What really impressed me is its durability. When turned off, the leveling movement locks in place, and it has rubber bumpers on all the corners. I accidentally left it on top of my car when leaving the work site. When I reached a speed of about 45mph I heard the rolling noise on my roof. I watched my rear view mirror in horror to see it bouncing like a rubber ball on the asphalt behind me for about about 50 feet. I quickly retrieved it and was surprised that the glass wasn't broken and when I turned it on both Lasers were still functioning. When I got home I found the Lasers were STILL both spot-on accurate. The "out of level" indicator on the top side no longer turns green, but it does still flash red when it's not level.

Nicely constructed and well-protected instrument! Would definitely recommend!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great tool! (with some limitations...)
Reviewed in the United States on June 24, 2022
My wife and I live in a house that is +100 year old with a detached garage. We recently renovated the main house and found some of the original walls in the house are not nearly plumb, but at least everything is level after a new foundation. The garage needs work and is about 4" out of plumb on one side and about 5" (in the opposite direction) on the opposite wall. This laser is auto-leveling and helps us resolve why things look off, usually because they actually are... so we may actually stand a chance to compete some (minor) garage work in a workmanlike fashion. For the tool itself:

Pros:
- Easy setup: turn it on and set it down.
- Easy storage: comes with a soft case.
- Easier to read: with a bubble level, everyone seams to have their own definition of "level" and every level has its own tolerances (big bubble and/or big center guide marks). This takes the guess work out by providing a concise laser line that would be interpreted the same by everyone.
- Fast: the laser level finds level AND plumb at the same time. There are also fewer marks on the wall, therefore less clean-up, since I can leave the laser up while marking other measurements.

Considerations (not really "cons," but findings):
- Not visible in direct sunlight (though green laser shows faint in shade/indirect sunlight).
- Takes a few uses to get used to the laser aspect, especially when using in tight spaces (ie. hallway or closet) since it easy to block the laser when trying mark locations on the wall. I ended up with some interesting crouches and wrist angles at first.

Tips:
1. Buy an adjustable tri-pod! The laser level has a screw base that works with most tri-pods. If I only need a rough height level, using the steps on a ladder is fast and easy.
2. If using outdoors (and not in a time crunch), set it up in the evening or at night for a greater chance to see and mark the laser heights outdoors. With everything marked, come back the next day to make noise (cut/drill/nail) based on the marks from the evening before.

Good luck!
