5.0 out of 5 stars Works best when used along with Rescue Fly Trap

We bought the Catchmaster Sticky Fly Trap Ribbon to use in our backyard/patio area as an odorless accompaniment to the Rescue Fly Trap that we have by our garbage can area (which is about 30' from our back patio.) The Rescue Fly Trap does an AMAZING job at catching and killing flies and luring them away from our back patio area so we can hang out, eat, whatever. For anyone who has used the RFT, you know how well they work, but disposing of them is awful due to the disgusting stench.

We hung a Catchmaster strip by itself in our garden area. It's been up for about 2 weeks, and has not caught much of anything. However, when we hung a Catchmaster strip on the hanger hook used for the Rescue Fly Trap, LOOK AT THE RESULTS!

The photo on the left (blue sky in background) was taken early on a cool Sunday morning just before disposal. The RFT has been up for a week, and is loaded with dead flies in the bag. The Catchmaster strip was hung Thursday morning, so it was only up for 3 days. When used with something like the RFT, the Catchmaster works GREAT! The Rescue Fly Trap lures in flies like crazy and whips them into a frenzy, but not all of them find their way into the bag. The Catchmaster strip gives the flies a place to land, and has increased the extermination rate significantly! We have to replace the Catchmaster strip 2-3 times per week since it works so well along with the RFT.

The photo on the right was taken on Monday evening, about 36 hours after both the RFT and Catchmaster were hung on the previous Sunday morning. Both products doing their jobs extremely well.

We highly recommend both products. BTW, there is no smell with the Catchmaster even when it's loaded with dead flies (and disposed of timely.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Bad quality control - update and now 5 stars
Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2022
When they stay intact, they work. Opening the product: When gently twisting while pulling on the provided red tab, the red tab has broken free of the sticky ribbon on two rolls and three other times the sticky ribbon has ripped off of the base. I've been using this type of product for years and when I say I'm pulling and twisting the sticky ribbon out gently, I mean gently. I've thrown away as many rolls as I've used. Will not buy again.

Update Aug 2022 - thinking that I may have gotten a bad/dried out batch on my first purchase, I bought another (the flies and bugs this summer are bad and drove me to a second purchase) and was pleasantly surprised. I haven't had a single cartridge fail from this new batch.

Hanging these up works, but I found another way to use them. I put my dogs' poop in the outside trash can and leave the lid off to attract the flies. I then lay down 2-3 of these strips loosely on top of the poop. The amount of flies caught is fantastic. I have to flip the fly strips over as the top side has no more vacancy after 2 days.

4.0 out of 5 stars Trap Works Well But Needs Instructions for Mishaps While Using Product
Reviewed in the United States on September 4, 2024
I had a significant house fly infestation and these fly traps worked within 2-3 days to get the flies under control. I don't notice a single annoying fly buzzing around me today, thank goodness.

The only thing that I don't like is that the manufacturer does not list the ingredients on the product package, nor on the Amazon product page. And I cannot easily find tips/instructions for an accidental product use situation that occurred.

One of the traps fell down and my cat somehow got it wrapped around his body. It was very hard to pull the sticky trap off of him and some of the adhesive is stuck to his fur. Although the packaging states the product is safe and non-toxic, it would help to have information about how to best wash the adhesive off pets and or human skin. I got some of the adhesive on my skin while trying to pull the trap off my cat, too.

My rating is really a 3.5, but will round up to 4 since the product works well for its intended use.

5.0 out of 5 stars It works too well

I used this product in summer time. It catches so many flies that it makes me feel guilty. I have even dialed down from using 3 at the same time to just 1. I wish there was a way to have same type of effectiveness, but without so much death. If there was a catch and release product like this amazing one then I would be willing to switch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for using around chicken coops
Reviewed in the United States on September 9, 2024
The Catchmaster Fly Ribbon 20-Pack is an excellent solution for dealing with flies and other flying pests around the house! I use them around my chicken coop and run, and they do a fantastic job catching flies that can be a nuisance to my chickens. The sticky strips are easy to set up—just pull them out of the tube and hang them wherever you need. They work wonders both indoors and outdoors, catching everything from fruit flies in the kitchen to gnats on the porch.

The adhesive is super strong, and the ribbons last a long time without losing their stickiness. I also appreciate that they are non-toxic and safe to use around animals. Plus, the subtle scent isn’t overpowering. It’s not the most glamorous look, but they get the job done! If you’re struggling with flying insects, especially around areas like chicken coops, these are a cost-effective and highly efficient pest control option.
