About this item

FOUR VOLUME LEVELS: this egg shaker percussion set has four shakers, each with their own volume level (soft, medium, loud, and extra-loud); now you can instantly change your volume in any musical setting
WHY IT MATTERS: having volume control makes all the difference because you're covered for any scenario; these shakers fit intimate acoustic shows, louder live settings against a mic, and recording
HOW IT WORKS: the light beaded filling inside each shaker is graduated from super fine to larger diameter for a clear progression in volume and texture; the outer shell gives all the shakers crisp and clear sounds
OF NOTE: the shells are made with 100% synthetic all-weather material designed to last under any condition, indoors or outside; the shakers clean easily with a damp cloth
ONE TAKEAWAY: they're easy to play, and you don't need prior musical skill; use them for anything from karaoke nights and jamming with friends to drum circles and acoustic music (they also make great party favors)
BY THE NUMBERS: each egg shaker measures 2" tall x 1 1/2" wide to fit easily in the palm of your hand, and they weigh a couple ounces each; you can even hold two in one hand to mix sounds
THE BOTTOM LINE: these shakers will do the trick whether you're a trained percussionist or singer looking for something to play when you've stepped away from your microphone
THE BIG PICTURE: Meinl is a family-owned musical instrument manufacturer and brand established 1951 in Germany; our expert German designers have deep relationships with our builders to ensure you're delivered the absolute finest quality

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality Sound and Construction!

These 4 egg shakers came at a bargain price and are made by a reputible percussion company.

I use them for minor percussion while listening to or playing music and plan to use them for studio and meditative reasons. They are all clearly labeled by sound level. They each carry a distinct tone so if you are using them all at the same time, you can pick their sound out individually. The red and black are the loud and extra loud eggs, and they have a tinny sound. For my personal preference I use and like the white and grey eggs the most. They have soft sounds (especially the white) and are much more soothing than rattling on the ears. It all depends on what sound you are going for. Holding the egg sideways and swishing it back and forth can create a much quieter sound from the louder eggs that can be more soothing that normally shaking them.

The shape of the eggs makes them fairly versatile - there is so much more one can do with these shakers than you would believe. Remember that the sound depends on not just the product but how you hold and handle it! :)

I would recommend this to any musician for studio or jam session use. It would also be a nice addition to a drum circle and would add a nice touch to a minor percussion set or music teacher's inventory. I would think it should also make for great meditative use, especially the white egg. This would also suffice as an amusing toy for a child of any age, and it seems safe for biting, throwing, stomping etc. as the shell is very durable. I would caution that its advertised use is specifically for percussion, though. The contents of the egg are no doubt harmful to children if they find a way out of the shell.

Buy it, the price is a value and it makes for a fun addition to every day life.

We encountered shaker eggs at our local library storytime and my triplets were so enamored that I went online to find some as soon as we got home. After comparing a few types, we got these since they have four different loudness levels, which I thought might be an additional level of interest for the eggs. My husband and I sat around shaking these when they arrived and the different loudness levels are not terribly noticable. The loudest egg and softest egg (the volume level is printed on the back) sound slightly different, as if one has sand and the other has rice inside, but on a daily basis it would be hard to differentiate and that's between the two extremes. Nonetheless, it's a little fun bonus above a set of the same four eggs. The kids LOVE these eggs. They are perfectly shaped and a good size to fit in their grubby little fists. They shake them with great vigor and love the noise and so do we! It's a relaxing, you're-at-the-beach-type noise which is a nice alternative to the electronic beep and music chaos that can usually be found in our playroom. I look forward to the kids being able to use these for years to come as we teach them about rhythm and making music. There is a barely visible seam around the equator of the egg, but it seems pretty solid, I have no concerns that they would pop open, a complaint that I encountered when looking at cheaper shaker eggs, and the logo does not look like it will easily peel or wear off either. We got them at 11 months, but they would have been usable months ago, as soon as they could keep hold of an item. Even before that they would probably have enjoyed us shaking the eggs at them. My only (extremely niggling) complaint is with the colors. In order of softest to loudest the eggs are white, grey, red, and black. The red just seems bizarre to my OCD self. I'd rather have two colors of grey or multiple bright colors or maybe even have red be the loudest egg - warning, this egg is RED, you are shaking the loudest egg so prepare for a shaking rice sound instead of shaking sand! But as I said, this is an issue that barely even counts as a complaint and in no way affects my recommendation to purchase these. In fact, I already purchased them for a friend's kids within a week of getting them ourselves and think they'd even make a great addition to baby shower baskets, Easter baskets, toy kitchen sets, and a number of other applications.

These are for my noise maker basket so that children can participate in music even if they do not know how to play an instrument. They fit in a child's hands, have a nice sound and appear to be durable.

Bought these to replace the tambourines I got for home karaoke nights. These work great in a home setting, and does not overwhelm the senses if all of them were played at once.

Very inexpensive way to add a new dimension to your percussive voice. Sounds are distinctively different (to my ear), so I am not really sure about all the reviewers saying they sound the same. I have played drums for decades and have owned top shelf maracas and shakers , bells , etc.
These have a sweet feel , though they are small and yes , made of plastic. If you are looking for "TOP TIER" instruments that you won't have to buy again , look elsewhere. If you need some sizzle and are on a budget and don't care if your dog eats them, these are for you.
Sound wise , these sound pretty good, and fantastic for the price. I have had many sets of these through the years , but never a 4 piece set with variable tones. I have had them 3 days and have already recorded Sympathy for the Devil with them , and used them in place of a ride pattern on a couple of songs in rehearsals. My band mates and I love them.
I would like to add a big thank you to this seller for getting these and my moon gels out so quickly. I will buy from this seller again and will , I'm almost certain , buy another set or 5 of these to just keep around when (not if) they break or I lose them to the dog :)

These egg shakers fit perfect in my hands, easy to use, and have different levels of sound in the 4-pack. They have a clear precise sound for each egg. I am having a great time using them along while listening to music.
