Having read and reread quackery many times I was looking for something else to read by Dr Kang and Mr Pedersen. This book did not disappoint, this is going to another book that I will come back to and reread. I can not recommend these books enough, Dr Kanga novels are also a good read.

I chose this book for my microbiology course supplemental reading, because it's a solid infectious disease epidemiology book. Very good layout, well written and interesting stories. However, it contains numerous small mistakes that are irritating, at least for a microbiologist. For example, the constant misuse of the word 'bacteria' which is a plural form from the word 'bacterium' (singular, not diminutive form, like the author claims). Almost every chapter contains some kind of a small factual or grammatical error like this. Almost considered giving my students extra credit if they find them, lol. Thus also only 4 stars. If they ever come out with a second edition, it better have these errors fixed.

It flows so beautifully, once you pick it up, you can not let it go again... As a physician, I enjoyed reading through the history of this great art and science of healing.

This book which covers in gory detail every affliction which has thinned the human species from Anthrax to Zika is guaranteed to keep those of us fearing symptoms to stay awake at night until this pandemic subsides. While not blessed with the humor of their previous book, "Quackery", this one is a good primer for readers to review the diseases we have already dealt with over the course of history and places the present pandemic into proper perspective.

I bought the MP3 version, and the narrator frequently mispronounces medical terms. You’d think this would have been part of the job interview, wouldn’t you? The text seems okay, 1/3rd of the way through.

Amazing facts and information about disease, bacterias, viruses, pandemics etc. Very timely. Easy to pick up and put down with the sections and the excerpts of facts and stories that are off set within chapters. Excellent follow up read from ‘Quackery’.
