About this item

Reed Ellis is absolutely gorgeous but a total newbie to camming, a virtual nobody in my world.

I should have just deleted his message request for a steamy on-camera collaboration. Not everyone is cut out to be a camboy. But there's just something about him I couldn't resist.

He's timid and inexperienced, quiet and closed off, but his fumbling first times play out scorching hot for the cameras, and our videos together are an instant success.

I know I should just ride this out, sit back and watch the money roll in, and then move on.

But I can't. I'm intrigued by this brick wall of a man. I see glimpses of Reed hiding behind his silence, and he is struggling. He has secrets, someone he cares about that he's protecting. I make it my mission to get him to open up and let me in. What will it take to reach the elusive Reed?

Reaching Reed is a very steamy and sweet M/M romance about camboys and first love. It is the first standalone book in the Behind the Camera series.

Cora Rose is an instant buy author for me. I’ve been looking forward to this collab with Nicole Dykes and I was not disappointed!

So I was expecting camboys and lots of smut, which we got, but I wasn’t expecting to cry! ????????????

Carter and Reed were essentially strangers but ended up collaborating for a camboy video. Carter has popular and experienced in the camboy industry while Reed was a newbie. These two together was so sexy! Reed with the whole straight guy vibe and Carter corrupting him was hooooottt! ????????????

We learn that Reed had some secrets and my heart wasn’t ready for them! Reed shredded my heart! I just wanted to cook him a big dinner and give him a big hug. ???? He was such a sweetheart and I felt terrible for the sacrifices and life he’s had to live.

While I absolutely adored Reed, Carter stole the show for me. He was amazing!!! He was super sweet, confident, and funny as hell. But the way he came into Reed’s life and changed it was everything! Carter is a new favorite character of mine. His selfishness and how he didn’t understand a situation but still gave so much was commendable. The world would be such a better place if we had more Carters’ in it.

This story was heartbreaking at times, but still very low angst. It was super sexy and super hot! It was a lot of fun to read! These two together was ????????????????! I highly recommend this story! I look forward to the future books with Carter’s friends, especially Jasper and Bennett. The whole enemies dynamic I know will be off the chain!

Carter, successful cam boy, lends a helping hand to Reed, who begrudgingly accepts. This book was adorable, and Reed, the ever blushing and oh so polite boy is totally the reason why. He’s so pure, and deserves all the love.
Honestly, as much as I love this book I’m not 100% sure it deserves 4 stars, but that’s what I’m giving it. Maybe I’ve been reading too many sad books recently, but this one really warmed me, man. It definitely has some faults, though.
They fall crazy fast, like within weeks. I get it, though, because I’m definitely a little in love with Reed, too. And it only took about 3 hours to read this so, I guess I fell pretty fast, too. Regardless, the whole insta-love made the rest of the book feel crazy fast paced. Also- and this is definitely me just being hella picky -with dual POVs (which I prefer in a book) their voices shouldn’t be so similar. Carter is supposed to be this loud and proud gay cam boy and yet, while we’re reading his internal monologues it just sounds like Reed. And vice versa.
The side characters are all cool as hell and we NEED a Bennett and Jasper book IMMEDIATELY. I feel it coming, and I can’t wait.
It’s short and sweet, and even though it does briefly mention some child abuse it’s not very angsty. 8/10, would definitely recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars sweet, light-hearted read

This was so sweet. It was one of those books I couldn’t put down. I read it straight through, only stopping to go to sleep and then picking it back up in the morning. I really loved reading about Carter and Reed. I was wary starting another camboy book because I haven’t had much luck with this trope in the past, but it all worked out thank god.

Reed. My sweet Reed. This man has a heart of gold. He decides to take up camming because he really needs the money, which you will find out why. He sends a message to Carter asking for a collaboration, and Carter says yes. Carter had no idea why he said yes, other than Reed had pretty eyes. Reed was a nobody. Just started camming. And then when they meet, Carter realizes how inexperienced he is. It wasn’t a good idea, but something was pulling them towards each other and it ended up showing on the camera through the sizzling chemistry. Everyone loved it, and they kept making videos (sexy, so very sexy videos yum).

I loved watching Reed open up to Carter. Sometimes this wasn’t very voluntarily, I’m looking at you talking stick, but it was still sweet. Reed doesn’t have a good life and he has many secrets. It’s not like super traumatic or anything, but it’s still secrets nonetheless that weigh on Reed. And little by little, Reed let’s Carter in to help him carry the burden. What a sight.

Carter was such a fun, sassy dude. As are his friends mentioned in this story. All of his friends are in the camming business, and they’re also on a bowling team together which is so funny. I guess I don’t have the proper respect for bowling. It was fun seeing them all react. It will also be fun seeing them get their own stories. Carter also has two lesbian mothers, and they were fabulous. I love when characters have good, supportive, embarrassing, funny, loving, etc parents. Makes me smiley.

It was interesting reading a book from both of these authors. I have read my fair share of books from both of them, so it was easy for me to distinguish which writing was theirs. It worked for the book, though. Cora Rose added her touch of funny, sexy, and slightly ridiculous writing to the book, while Nicole Dykes added her more emotional and sweet writing. I’m looking forward to continuing this series and seeing what they come up with.

It was a sweet story but for some reason I wasn’t really feeling it. I don’t know if it’s because of the background. Not judging but the porn acting thing was kind lame. Just OK.
