This book was a good read. I bought it because it was a Kindle Daily deal and because the title/description intrigued me. A suspenseful mystery, this tale was centered around an ex-reporter. The mystery kept me reading, but at times I felt as if the newsman-poking-around-small-town was a bit stretched thin. Some of the actions characters took seemed too spelled out, and some were completely unexplained or mildly unbelievable. However, given the intensity of the plot and the twists and turns, I overlooked these elements and I believe I finished the book in 3 days. Quite interestingly, Stephen King's Bag of Bones is almost the same story, but I felt as if King's was more my type of story for its more outright supernatural elements. The "haunting" in Woods' tale was very peripheral, so if you're more interested in stories of the living, give Under The Lake a shot. If you're expecting ghoulies and goblins though, keep looking.
