I'm a partimento/historical composition instructor and I mainly use Job Ijzerman's book in the early stages, as many of us do. However, I find that many modern students need figured supplements that are more basic than what you get in the typical partimento collections by Fenaroli, Mattei (his are more complex than they look), Durante, Sala, the Handel Princess Annes, etc. and of course, Furno focuses on unfigured bass. Basically, they need more of what Ijzerman offers.
This book only spends the first 3 chapters on examples in fewer than 4 voices, but it's enough to make it an excellent supplement. She also includes demonstrations of various moti di basso (patterns that will look familiar to any Ijzerman student) in realized form, particularly useful for nonpianists who have to practice the physical motions of any given realization. And it is not full of unnecessary Roman numerals like so many modern theory course materials are. I appreciate this book on those grounds alone, really.
I would still say there's a need for something even more basic (something I am in the early stages of creating myself, and another partial reason for purchasing this book, as market research) for those students who are particularly young or neurodivergent, but this is a great addition to the partimento teacher's library.
