5.0 out of 5 stars I'm a beginner and this bass is AWESOME!!!
Reviewed in the United States on July 14, 2023
I have always wanted to learn how to play a guitar, and I figured the best way to start was with a four-string bass so that I wouldn't get too overwhelmed with the six-string equivalent. I'm not a flashy guy so I figured the natural wood appearance would best suit my personality. The price point was fantastic (surprising, actually), which made me think I would compromise on quality. Again, I am a beginner and don't know much about what is good quality and what isn't. All of that being written, I couldn't be more pleased with this buy. The bass is sturdy, the amp is adequate, and all of the components that came with this were all I needed to get started. The strap is ok, but I replaced it with a new one. Additionally, I recommend purchasing a tuner since the bass will need to be tuned upon first use. All and all, I highly recommend purchasing this bass!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great bass, amp needs work though

The media could not be loaded.
I had bought this some time ago, and it has held up very well, especially with me being the stereotypical egotistical gymrat teenage boy who rough-houses everything; though the knobs are fragile but an easy fix for a repair man.
The bass is clean, not really much you can do with the knobs but pedals would do the trick- the volume knob goes from 0-60 with the slightest turn. Tone knob is great
With playability- the edges are smooth and the fret board feels nice on the fingers. The neck is easily navigable (hand runs nicely down the back) but they aren’t really setup so a neck adjustment won’t hurt right out of the box.
The strings hold up; dark sound.
Strap is functional but not very comfortable

The amplifier, on the other hand, is small, weak, and overall doesn’t fit the instrument.
Luckily for me I have had the fender rumble, which is a great option for practice and small gigs.
A new amplifier is definitely recommended but the bass itself is amazing

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid beginner bass

If you’re looking for a beginner bass set up that has it all…. Look no further! Solid sound, amp worked for in home practice, came with a thin gig bag, cords, and straps included. I’ve been playing for over 30 years and bought this as a gift for my wife that wanted to learn. She’s loving it

3.0 out of 5 stars Budget/Starter Bass, Nothing more

I have played guitar for many years now and an opportunity arose for me to play bass in a band. Not knowing if I would even enjoy the bass, I wasn't ready to spend a ton on it. Ironically enough, I ended up spending $400+ in the end, but we will get to that. This is in my opinion a decent starter bass, IF you get on in good condition. The one i received unfortunately had a pretty severe bend in the neck and the back of the neck near the head appears to have been cracked and attempted repair, thus my reason for returning it. The guitar is honestly beautiful otherwise and the colors are great! Another issue with the guitar is that the body is too light. When playing the head of the guitar wants to drop, which becomes a problem when playing with a strap. I can't speak for sound as i only used a few days and with the small amp it came with. The small amp is good for practice only. You aren't going to play gig with this, or at least not one that will sounds good. The amp being small can get loud but lacks the bass that you'd be looking for.

With all the issues i ran into i took it as a sign to spend a bit more and get a better bass/amp. Id say that this would be a great starter bass (assuming you get one that isn't warped or damaged) but you'll need to at a minimum get a better amp to play out.

5.0 out of 5 stars For a beginner, it’s great

As a drummer who decided to dabble on learning a new instrument, this was a great, affordable option. I had already purchased a decent Jackson bass guitar within my budget, and this was kind of an added bonus as I needed a practice amp and it just happened to come with some extras (including a 2nd bass guitar). As some reviewers stated, the frets are not rounded off which does cause minor cuts to the hand (but no bloodshed, and I’ve been playing for hours). The guitar is very out of tune out of the box but as a beginner, I was able to use this as an opportunity to learn how to do relative tuning and got it sounding pretty good. It’s a beautiful finish on the guitar and there were no damage issues with the contents although my box was a little damaged which is expected in transport. The amp alone makes this worth the money for me and it sounds great at low volumes and even at highest volume… honestly, the bad reviews I read seemed like they were from seasoned bass players who were looking to tear this item apart. I would say if you’re a beginner, or someone who’s never played bass, this is the best option for your money. I have been playing between both of my guitars for 3 weeks now and am happy with my purchase.
