Life is never black and white.

One minute you’re a struggling graphic designer in LA that's finally coming to terms with being single forever, and the next you're flying to New York in a private jet to get engaged to your ex-boyfriend’s older brother.

At least...that’s what everyone thinks.

Forced to clean up his playboy image in order to protect his company, Beckham Sinclair, the city’s most eligible billionaire bachelor, wants
me to be his fake fiancée and personal assistant.

Now I'm spending every spare second with a man I thought I’d never see again.

My freshly mended heart has barely recovered from the first time a Sinclair broke it. But with each passing day, Beck’s dirty mouth and lingering stares make me question his motives—and mine.

As the line blurs between real and pretend, only one thing is certain: there are secrets hiding in this city full of black ties and white lies.

Black Ties and White Lies is a billionaire, fake relationship, forced proximity, and ex's older brother romance. It is the first book in a series of stand-alones by Kat Singleton.

5.0 out of 5 stars So good

This is the first book I’ve read from this author as far as I know or remember. It definitely has me looking at all her other books. This was well written. The first time they were intimate lasted for pages and pages. I don’t think I’ve ever had that in a book before. It was so well written and not to nasty or cheesy. It was written perfectly.
Beck saw Margo one night in a NY bar. He was mesmerized instantly. His jealous brother noticed and got to her first just to make his brother jealous and to have something he knew his brother wanted. Margo and Beck share a special moment a few years later at a beach house while she’s spending time with his family. He knows he wants her for himself , loves her and will eventually get her. A year or so after Margo dumps Beck’s cheating , loser brother Beck shows up in her life with a crazy proposal. All kinds of sassy word foreplay happens , laughs and love.
Of course we end up with some secrets being revealed adding in the angst.
Truths are told and Margo has decisions to make. Which brother does she want? Which brother does she believe? Which brother does she love? The side characters are good. Leaving you to want to learn more about them. Which is great because their books are next.
It was a perfect little story and just what I needed. The intimate scenes were written so well . There wasn’t so much sex that there was no plot. It was right on the money with how it was done.
I’ll be reading all this author’s other books now.

This was a fantastic short read. Love story with a side of revenge. Not a lot of angst or prolonging. My heart really enjoyed the emotional vacation. Plus, the spice was coming in hot! Definitely recommend.

Black Tie Billionaires book 1. A new author for me and I enjoyed every moment of this book. Margo and Beck. OMG yummy goodness. Loads of drama, angst and sexy on level 10. Plenty of twisty craziness with swirls of WTF. A fantastic read. Onto the next fabulous book.

After reading the 2 Sutten Mountain Series books that were published after BT&WL, I knew I wanted to come back to this book since we get small little glimpses of the main characters in this story. And I'm glad I finally got to see where Beck and Margo's story began.

Black Ties and White Lies begins with a bang. Beck storms the office of where Margo works and lets it be known he bought the company and now he wants to make her his fake fiancee. Wait. Hold up. Aren't these two literal strangers? Apparently they did have a little backstory, but that doesn't come until WAY later. So, to start the book off with a dirty talking boss that wants to bend Margo over the desk and fake marry her? I was a little confused. BUT, I also liked the words coming out of Beck's mouth. I just wish we would've gotten back story or we got a little piece into them being mutually attracted to one another. We don't. Until later. (yes, I know I'm being repetitive, but it needs to be said)

When Margo takes Beck up on the offer and moves from California back to New York, that is where the real story starts. Where they are living in the same palatial condo and working together. And boy do these two have instalust. Again, I wish we got a little bit of who they were as people before just getting into the dirty talk and banter. Because they had some chemistry and fun and sexy banter. It just needed to be built up more with some sort of story. Once the history of them unravels, I was totally on board. It just took me a bit to get there.

Overall, this story had great potential and I loved the spice between them, it just lacked the build up that we didn't get until later (almost too late for me). If their backstory was moved to the beginning of the book, I think this would've been a 4ish star story. I loved their playful and sexy emails to one another at work. I loved how much Beck loved to cook for Margo and I loved that he let her be who she was and wanted to spoil her. Margo had a tougher hill to climb since she was Beck's brother's ex-girlfriend and that played into their whole story.

With all that said, I did enjoy the potential of the story and would probably give it a 3 ish stars. I'm glad I read it in anticipation of the next one in the series.

This was such a fun book to read. Easy and great pace. I ran through it and really enjoyed the characters. Margos character had a great personality and I loved how despite her ex she still gave beck a chance. I loved that beck fell first. He puts on this tough guy act but is a complete hopeless romantic.

Found this book by accident from a sneak peak on Facebook and was hooked from the sample. Beck and Margot are HOT ???? and sinful! This story had me on the edge of my seat I couldn’t stop reading what would happen next, what would Beck do next!? It was so good! Had a surprise I didn’t see coming- oh Carter you jealous ex you! The spice was off the charts! I can’t wait to read another book by Kat, this was the first time I’d read her and won’t be the last for sure!
