I purchased the toddler size in matte navy for my grandson and I couldn't be more pleased! He's a year and a half and has started to jump on his sister's scooter for a ride so I knew it was time for a helmet. This Retrospec helmet is perfect for him! His head is a bit larger than most toddlers his age so I was wary about ordering the toddler size based upon other reviews. It fits him so well! I received the all important approval from my daughter and son in law (who was a professional BMX bike racer at one point) so that sealed the deal for me! The fact that it passes all the safety requirements for a child's helmet was all I needed to know! Additionally, although not nearly as important as fit and safety, the matte navy is a great color and looks exactly like the ad!

Helmet is very well made and the interior pieces have more layers and are much more sturdy than some of the budget helmets we've purchased in the past. You can see the quality! The interior is nicely lined with foam and is curved around the edges for comfort. The strap and dial on the back are both easy to adjust for a perfect fit. I purchased the size Small Child (comes with an XS sticker on it) for my 4 year old and the fit is perfect with some room to grow. She was comfortable and the straps look like they were sitting properly. Note you can't easily see but the light pink helmet is shiny while some of the other colors are matte. Very pleased with this helmet for the fit and it is very cute.

i finally found a helmet that really fits my 2 year old grandsons head without it swimming around on his head, and this helmet is VERY WELL MADE trust me youll see the differance in quality when you open it up, from the outter shell to the inner workings of the helmet they really when the extra mile ti make 100% sure this will fit every little head this IS THE ONE moms and dads and grandparents also what a great gift and good value too you can beat it!! and knowinf our little ones are safe theres no proce on that id give this 100 stars if i could it took me 4 other helmets to find this one so hopefully yall will see this one and my review befpre you waste your money elsewhere if it wasnt this good i wouldn't say so, i promise you that

I ordered the #Retrospec Scout Toddler Bike Helmet - Kids Bike Helmet Multi-Sport Protection for my grandson to use when he comes over to play and ride his bike, I want to be sure that he is safe. Having a good helmet is a very big part of that. The helmet fits very well and stays on securely without moving. The straps were easy to adjust to fit his head. The color and the style is similar to an adult helmet, which is what attracted me to it in the first place. The padding in the helmet is very thick. The holes on the helmet allow for great ventilation when it is hot outside. Last but at least, I love the muted orange color. Very unique. I highly recommend this helmet.

Helmet Itself Seems Okay, Sizing Mysteries, Page Info All Over The Place, Almost Didn't Get It

The page info for this helmet was all over the place regarding sizing at the time of my order. As of my review date, it's still terrible and they don't appear to have updated it at all. I'm docking a full star from the rating for this reason. As a matter of principal, I typically leave off a star before I can assess how long something will last, because in most cases that's a huge part of any purchase I make. These are my reasons for the 3-star rating.

As far as the helmet itself goes, it seems okay while it's still new. The chin straps are strong and the head protection seems comparable to other helmets I've bought in the past.

I almost didn't get this because the page describes it as being for toddlers, kids, and teens, all on the same page. There are 2 sizes available measured in centimeters (which I assume is head circumference), and I'm more familiar with inches thanks to my Imperial upbringing. But because the info on the page is all over the place, I didn't feel confident knowing which description to believe.

I ordered this for my 4yo grandson for when he comes over and rides his new bike. He's at that in-between age, between toddler and kid, so I crossed my fingers and ordered the larger of the two available sizes. I figured if it was too big, he would grow into it eventually, and in the meantime I have a bunch of other grandkids ages 2-16yrs who might fit into it.

If it weren't for all my other grandkids of various head sizes, I would not have ordered this at all and instead would have bought a helmet at a store or ordered one with clearer info on the page.

Hopefully they will update and clear up all the issues with the page very soon, because I can't really recommend this the way it is. Even though the helmet itself seems okay while new, I feel like I'm lucky that I don't have to return it for a different size, but that may not be your experience if you order it.

If they have fixed the page in the time since I wrote this review so there is no confusion left at all, consider this a 4-star rating. If not, then you may want to shop elsewhere so you can be sure about protecting your kid's precious noggin with the correct size helmet.

If the helmet proves to have problems, falls apart, or has any other issue while it's being used, I will absolutely come back to update my review. I'll also correct the rating if I'm able to learn that they've corrected all the page issues. At this point, however, it's 3 stars from me!

This helmet is very light and seemingly comfortable. My 3yo (2ish months away from 4) saw it and wore it for 4 hours today just watching TV. I didn't bother asking why, she was happy and I left it at that. The matte finish is very even and looks good with anything. There is some minimal padding inside that is held in with hook and loop fasteners. The headband is easily adjusted as is the chin strap. We just got her some skates and I hope she never needs to test the safety of this helmet, but better to have and not need than to need and not have. Overall, I have zero complaints with this helmet as a parent and my kiddo doesn't seem to have any either.
