Book Review – Dead Fall – Brad Thor
In bestselling author Brad Thor’s new espionage and political thriller, “Dead Fall,” main character Scot Harvath is dispatched to the war-ravaged outer boarders of Ukraine to avenge the killing of American citizens and to rescue an American relief worker who has been captured by the Russian mercenary unit, Wagner Group. The Russian mercenaries – its members from the worst prisons and mental asylums across Russia – have also gone rogue, committing the most barbaric, violent, and horrific war crimes ever imageable. Harvath is sent in to settle the score. Straight out of the current news headlines, Thor tells another intense geopolitical and complex story but very thrilling and excitingly entertaining. Scot Harvath returns in Book 22 for another action-packed, globe-trotting, current headline-thumping adventure. Thor does an excellent job in this narrative by allowing the characters themselves to ‘tell’ the story through their various conversations and dialogue. This was some brilliant authoring! Thor’s discerning story telling is to be commended. I really liked the details outlining weapon systems, intelligence agency interactions (or non-interactions), and some of the behind the scenes politicking in Washington DC. It is a damning indictment of our politicians in Washington right now, but Thor doesn’t make the story partisan by any means. He keeps the tale nonpartisan and enjoyable. I love his ability to tell a story using current topics, events, and opinions without being overtly political. He proved that he can be gritty, but not biased in this tale. Darker, harder, but dazzling, Brad Thor pens another riveting and action-laden Scot Harvath story that will give any adrenaline junky a hangover! Dead Fall is a great read! I thoroughly enjoyed this book!
