About this item

Lethal operative Scot Harvath is dispatched to avenge the killing of American citizens abroad in #1 New York Times and #1 Wall Street Journal bestselling author Brad Thor’s new pulse-pounding thriller.

In the war-ravaged borderlands of Ukraine, a Russian mercenary unit has gone rogue. Its members, conscripted from the worst prisons and mental asylums across Russia, are the most criminally violent, psychologically dangerous combatants to ever set foot upon the modern battlefield.

With all attention focused on the frontlines, they have pushed deeper into the interior to wage a campaign of unspeakable barbarity. As they move from village to village, committing horrific war crimes, they meet little resistance as all able-bodied men are off fighting the war.

Simultaneously, a team of Russian soldiers has been dispatched by the Kremlin to loot truckloads of art and priceless cultural treasures hidden away in a host of churches, museums, and private homes.

When multiple American aid workers are killed, America’s top spy, Scot Harvath, is sent in to settle the score. But in a country so vast, will Harvath be able to find the men in question and, more importantly, will he be able to stop them before they can kill again?

Wow what a fabulous book this is on so many levels. Scott is back a bit older but just as tough as ever. The subject matter is extremely thought provoking and the fight scenes so intense I was terrified for the good guys . The new characters were very well drawn and it was nice to see Nicholas and his dogs again.A very interesting spy story with the FBI in the back ground proves a perfect change of pace.I loved this book. Congrats Brad Thor you outdid yourself.

4.0 out of 5 stars I used to be a huge Brad Thor fan

I used to buy the hardcover Brad Thor books after Vince Flynn passed away (the best). But although action packed they often had some silly or political aspect that ruins the story line. I never thought the 3' dwarf genius billionaire hacker with two killer dogs was credible. Really?
Thor has toned down the character, and the book is ripped from the headline and action packed.
That leads me to my real gripe. It's propaganda. Notice how all the Ukrainians are good and all the Russians are bad? A sales pitch on how we need to keep funding endless unwinable wars. We're printing every dollar while ignoring America's needs like hardening the electric grid!
4 stars for great action, -1 for pandering. I had high hopes but I'm disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars ...gritty, but not biased; darker, harder, but good! Another riveting and action-laden tale.

Book Review – Dead Fall – Brad Thor
In bestselling author Brad Thor’s new espionage and political thriller, “Dead Fall,” main character Scot Harvath is dispatched to the war-ravaged outer boarders of Ukraine to avenge the killing of American citizens and to rescue an American relief worker who has been captured by the Russian mercenary unit, Wagner Group. The Russian mercenaries – its members from the worst prisons and mental asylums across Russia – have also gone rogue, committing the most barbaric, violent, and horrific war crimes ever imageable. Harvath is sent in to settle the score. Straight out of the current news headlines, Thor tells another intense geopolitical and complex story but very thrilling and excitingly entertaining. Scot Harvath returns in Book 22 for another action-packed, globe-trotting, current headline-thumping adventure. Thor does an excellent job in this narrative by allowing the characters themselves to ‘tell’ the story through their various conversations and dialogue. This was some brilliant authoring! Thor’s discerning story telling is to be commended. I really liked the details outlining weapon systems, intelligence agency interactions (or non-interactions), and some of the behind the scenes politicking in Washington DC. It is a damning indictment of our politicians in Washington right now, but Thor doesn’t make the story partisan by any means. He keeps the tale nonpartisan and enjoyable. I love his ability to tell a story using current topics, events, and opinions without being overtly political. He proved that he can be gritty, but not biased in this tale. Darker, harder, but dazzling, Brad Thor pens another riveting and action-laden Scot Harvath story that will give any adrenaline junky a hangover! Dead Fall is a great read! I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

Brad never disappoints. I enjoy the way he weaves current events into his writing with facts he has gathered from many sources. His books provide a lot of insight into the current political climate as well.

This book was very well written and kept your interest all the time, even when switching back and forth between all the different events that were going on.

I usually enjoy a good Harveth book and this one didn’t disappoint. Lots of action and adventure. I only put four stars as the last few chapters seemed to be rushed, lacking meat. It’s like the author or editor decided the book was running long and shorted out some meet and put it on a diet of just above outline information.
