She has a to-do list a mile long and falling for her coworker isn't on it—yet somehow he’s become her top priority in this romantic comedy from the national bestselling author of Love in the Time of Serial Killers.

Lauren Fox is the bookkeeper for Cold World, a tourist destination that's always a winter wonderland despite being located in humid Orlando, Florida. Sure, it’s ranked way below any of the trademarked amusement parks and maybe foot traffic could be better. But it’s a fun place to work, even if “fun” isn’t exactly Lauren’s middle name.

Her coworker Asa Williamson, on the other hand, is all about finding ways to enliven his days at Cold World—whether that means organizing the Secret Santa or teasing Lauren. When the owner asks Lauren and Asa to propose something (anything, really) to raise more revenue, their rivalry heats up as they compete to come up with the best idea. But the situation is more dire than they thought, and it might take these polar opposites working together to save the day. If Asa thought Lauren didn't know how to enjoy herself, he's surprised by how much he enjoys spending time together. And if Lauren thought Asa wasn't serious about anything, she's surprised by how seriously he seems to take her.

As Lauren and Asa work to save their beloved wintery spot, they realize the real attraction might be the heat generating between them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Workplace-grumpy /sunshine romance

Not so patiently waited for this one, and it did not disappoint. Workplace romance at a Florida attraction called Cold World. Asa is the resident Christmas and all things Cold World expert. He has been working there since he was 18 and kicked out of his parents' house. Lauren is the introverted bookkeeper and a bit newer to Cold World. Grumpy sunshine meets, and they do not get along well, Asa likes to push Lauren's buttons and can not figure out why she doesn't like him or for the life of him why she is interested in the owners snooty self absorbed son Daniel. Lots of secondary fun characters. Good moments of lightheartedness, a few spicy moments, and lots of sweet moments to bring these two together. Big fan of AT writing style

5.0 out of 5 stars Opposites Attract

This was everything I wanted it to be, and definitely builds on the style and tone of Alicia’s first novel. With Love From Cold World is the sweet story of two people who feel alone in a crowded room finding the person who makes them feel seen. Both Asa and Lauren are hiding their hurt behind walls - Asa is the flippant life of the party and Lauren is the all-business worker bee. It starts with them sniping at each other until a night trapped in Cold World reminds them to see each other as people, and they start to fall hard and fast.

While there’s a lot of miscommunication, they are unaware of it. Both come from backgrounds that never taught them healthy communication and they are both so protective and defensive of their own well-being that it’s hard to let the walls down and give anyone the chance to hurt them.

The banter is witty and funny, between both the leads and the secondary characters, Cold World itself has sweet nostalgia vibes, and the confrontations with each lead’s antagonist will make you feel a sense of justice and completion. There are no threads left hanging at the end, and it makes you feel really positive about their longevity in the future.

Asa is bisexual and it is openly talked about, and Lauren is quick to correct anyone who denies his identity because he’s with a woman. He has a traumatic coming out story but there is a hopeful end note to that plot line.

Asa is worth swooning over - every time he couldn’t hold in how he felt or what he wanted from Lauren was pure romance. With Love From Cold World is sweet and full of heart, with two characters who grow together and learn they can trust someone else with their most vulnerable parts.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great for bisexual representation and workplace romance

This is a sweet novel that absolutely hits the spot if you're looking for an enemies-to-lovers trope. This book is also unique in that one of the protagonists is bisexual. The novel gets along in the same comfortable formulaic way, but what really annoyed me was how once they are in their relationship, all of their other life problems are magically solved into a Happy Ending. The banter and conversation of the secondary characters also felt exhausting, and after a point, I just wanted the characters not to sound like each other after a while.

This was a delightful little read. I totally judged a book by its cover and got this because it’s so cute. Bi MMC rep, shy but feisty FMC. Check triggers for topics pertaining to foster care. This was a well paced and pretty low stakes read. My chief complaint is the ~miscommunication~ trope.

4.0 out of 5 stars sweet and refreshing!

At times I was a little unsure I cared about this little kitschy place, because why would someone want to spend more than ten years there, especially with how obviously it was dwindling? But I’m glad that question was brought up, and our characters specifically had to be the ones to figure out how to give it back some life. And more importantly, I thoroughly enjoyed the couple and their chemistry, although at the beginning it definitely felt like Asa would be the only one to make ANYTHING happen, and I wanted a bit more from Lauren. I was pleased to learn more about them and see how they each confronted their pasts and their demons and supported each other, both naturally and intentionally. It was sweet and beautiful and realistic.

This book had some important things to say just by being representative with diverse characters and I loved that.

This is the first book I've read by the author. The cover gave me such nostalgic vibes, and I love it. Reading this story feels like watching those Christmas hallmark movies minus the winter season. It's a workplace romance to easily get lost in. It was fun and made me long to visit Cold World and get a t-shirt of my own. ????

The story takes place in a winter wonderland theme park, and it has all the vibes to make for a fun winter read, even though the season is actually summer. Forced to work together on new ideas to liven up the park, Lauren and Asa create more sparks than snowflakes.❄️

❄️ Secret Santa
❄️ Romance
❄️ Enemies to Lovers
❄️ Forced proximity
❄️ Workplace romance
❄️ Opposites attract
❄️ Rivals to lovers

It's one of those easy reads where you can just sit back and enjoy the story. It might help to get readers out of a reading slump since it's heartfelt and has that feel good vibe.
