Excellent contrast at high spatial frequencies means superb resolution even at F2.8. Two high-precision XA (extreme aspherical) elements, two ED (Extra-low dispersion) glass elements, two Super ED glass elements, and a floating focus mechanism control aberration, realize sharp, clear images at all zoom and aperture settings.
This lens is the smallest and lightest F2.8 24-70mm zoom in its class2. It weighs just 24.6 oz (695 g), over 20% less than the previous model. It is 16 mm shorter, and overall volume has been reduced by approximately 18%. Excellent mobility makes it a great choice for professional or enthusiast still or movie use in a wide range of situations.
Four of Sony’s original XD (extreme dynamic) Linear Motors, a floating focus mechanism, and advanced lens control achieve fast, precise and quiet AF with excellent tracking. Shoot at up to 30 frames per second3 or up to 4K 120p with a compatible camera body. A new aperture unit also contributes to high speed, enabling full AF tracking performance with the aperture stopped down4.
Advanced lens design reduces focus breathing, focus shift and axial shift when zooming. Image and angle of view shifts are minimized for smooth movie imagery. XD Linear Motors and a new aperture unit contribute to quiet, low-vibration operation. The breathing compensation function provided in compatible α series bodies is also supported5

Fantastic medium range lens

Sony's GM2 series of lenses are pretty spectacular and this one is well worth the cost. With a focal range of 24-70mm it's an excellent lens for medium range shooting. The auto focus is super fast and images are sharp and clear. Bokeh is smooth and wide ranging as depth of field is adjusted with f-stop. This lens is equally adept shooting still photagraphy and video. This lens is very well built and with proper care will hold it's value for many many years. I highly recommend it.

Great in low light and with large families

I am using this with the A7RV body and this produces very crisp photos with a great range. I tried it first at night and didn’t need a tripod or unipod to aid with shutter speed. Very well worth the money so far, and I hope it continues to worth it down the line

Perfect travel lens

This lens is so light that it helps my ARV's weight. It's definitely expensive and I could've gotten a Sigma for about $700 less but I wanted to make this my main lens so I might as well go big and the best.
If you're looking for a main lens, this one can't be beat. Of course the 70-200m is equally amazing and outright better for portrait and other things but it's too heavy...

G-Mast lens.Compact size for 24-70mm zoom lens. Fast auto focus. great color rendering and picture comparable with GMaster prime lens. It is a very versatile lens for travel and big event.

Great lens! for being a return form the amazon warehouse, the box is badly damaged but the lens is intact and no damage or scratches on the lens or glass. No internal image stabilization but my A7RV has some stabilization.
