5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent value. Works great!

I received a FREE MTD snow blower w/ 8hp Tecumseh motor, but as they say, there is no free lunch. My free snow blower needed many replacement parts to operate properly, including a new or rebuilt carburetor as it would surge constantly at operating temperature and there is no adjustment. I'm handy, but not inclined to rebuild a carburetor, so I purchased this replacement. For the low cost, including all of the additional parts, I was skeptical and my expectations were very low. You do need to transfer the choke assembly and the bracket for the metal cover from the old carburetor to this new one. All holes were tapped from the factory and accepted the old screws without issue. The new carburetor installed easily and is a perfect replacement for the original carburetor that came with my MTD snow blower. I only used the carburetor and one of the clamps for the fuel line, but all of the included replacement parts appear to be of good quality. With the new carburetor installed, which took less than 20 minutes, the snow blower fired right up on a single pull of the recoil starter handle and runs smoothly without any surging. This carburetor is non-adjustable, but came preset from the factory. I am very satisfied with this carburetor and am very much looking forward to the first big snowfall of the season. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great value brought ne life to old snow thrower.

Seems about same quality as original but it didn't have bleed off valve that mine had which is the reason I'm replacing the old one. Installed with a few tools and went quickly I did not install all the parts yet but plan to install before next winter. New carb has snow thrower engine running like new. No longer sucking air and having very rough idle. It also starts first pull now. Great value. And it came quicker than stated.

5.0 out of 5 stars Snowblower started up in one pull
Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2024
My old/original carburetor had enough and was done... Bought this one, installed it relatively easy (it was my first time). It's an exact match to the OEM. The Snowblower started up in one pull! Sounded and ran like new. I didn't end up using any of the other parts, but they seemed to be of reasonable quality. Great part, great price.... Bring on the snow!

3.0 out of 5 stars Wrong size threaded holes for mounting brackets. Leaked profusely because float was stuck.
Reviewed in the United States on October 26, 2023
The new carburetor appeared identical to mine until I tried transferring the 2 brackets which didn't come with the new carburetor, nor did the bracket mounting screws (2 per bracket). No problem if the mounting holes are the same, but they aren't. Guessing they are the metric equivalent of the holes in my carburetor. Wouldn't have been a problem if the 4 bracket mounting screws were included, like they should have been, or if the hole size and thread were the same. So if you buy, first thing to do is remove the brackets from your old carburetor and make a trip to the hardware store to get the right mounting screws. After installing the new carburetor and filling the gas tank, gas was leaking profusely from the carburetor. So I removed the carburetor bowl to find the float stuck due to improper assembly of the bowl gasket at the factory. Upon reassembly, the float operated freely, there were no fuel leaks from the carburetor, and the engine ran well. So if you buy, remove the bowl and verify the float operates freely. Finally, I decided to install the fuel shutoff valve and fuel filter that came with the kit. After fueling the tank and turning the gas on, fuel leaked profusely from the defective fuel filter. So if you buy, make sure the filter doesn't leak before installing it. Do this by plugging one end with your finger and blowing in the other end. Despite all these problems, I would buy again because you can't beat the price. It was frustrating going through all these problems. Hopefully this review will save you my headaches.

5.0 out of 5 stars Revived old snowblower
Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2025
I picked up an old MTD snowblower about 5 years ago from a yard sale. That winter I bought a cheap carburetor on Amazon and got it running. Fast forward and that carb started leaking out of the drain fitting. I decided to go with this style since it does away with that drain. I had the carb swapped out in a matter of minutes, then decided to swap the fuel line since it was included in the kit. On the Tecumseh engine, it's best to remove the front cover and flywheel to get the line routed properly. There are good videos on YT and it's really not difficult to do. Once everything was buttoned up, the snowblower started immediately and runs fantastic. I think it runs better than the previous carb. Although these are made in China, I do like how we can easily and cheaply keep these old machines running instead of sending them to the scarp yard.
