4.0 out of 5 stars Great fan, but blades off gas at high speeds

Easy installation, looks new and very quiet. The offgassing was a little worry some, however. It only occurs when fan is on high, otherwise no issues. Hopefully it's just temporary.

1.0 out of 5 stars The design of this fan is HORRIBLE

The title doesn't say that this is a Tarrant model fan. Hunter seems to have discontinued this model; they do not sell its replacement parts online.

Whoever designed this, must have had 4 arms and foot-long fingers, and the instruction manual diagrams omit some very important material.

I am very handy, and already had an outlet box installed on my ceiling joists. What should have been 1 or 2 hours to replace my old ceiling fan, took more than 5 HOURS because of the terrible instructions and the design of the fan mechanism.

First, the green ground wire would not unscrew from the standard extension piece, so I had to keep the 3" when the shorter one would have been better.

Next, the fan blades have to be assembled with the fan on the ceiling, and there are multiple design flaws. The blade slots are too wide, so when you insert each fan blade, the blades shift up and down and side to side, all while the motor mechanism can freely circle. You cannot see the screw holes well (remember, you're working over your head here), and you need to keep the screw AND a washer on the bottom of the blade (15 times all together, 3 per blade) while you're trying to align the screw holes. And twice, I had 2 of the 3 screws in, but the 3rd screw couldn't be aligned, so I had to unscrew the first two and shift the blade a bit to line up all 3 holes...while the mechanism is swinging in a circle above my head.

Last but not least, the light assembly has to be lined up with 2 out of 3 screws in from the top, and the instruction diagram makes you think you can actually see where the holes align, from under the fan (which is again, on the ceiling). But the diagram illustrator must have forgotten that there is the fan motor control and other wires in the way, so you cannot see!

See my photos? Do you see where a screw would have to go?? Not unless you gently pull the fan control and other wires out of the way, hoping the entire time that you don't rip out the wires at the 11th hour of assembly.

Now, it's up and running, and I will admit it is quiet, which is why I had to replace my old fan in the first place (it would whir even at low speed). But the assembly process is horrific!!! And it didn't have to be.

This little fan has definitely surpassed my expectations. It’s quiet, so quiet that I almost couldn’t believe it was on! The power this fan has is impressive. It moves the air and keeps the room nice and cool. Plus it fits the space that we needed. Installation was smooth.
