5.0 out of 5 stars Great app!

This app is very cool! The feature I like best is the ability to turn any photo into a watercolor image just by swiping the brush over it. you can also change colors and use it like a coloring book for kids, but the watercolor feature is the best. Very nice app. I have played with this app more than any other photo app I have had. No disapointments with this one, especially since I picked it up as a faotd. I wish Amazon would start offering 'more' useful apps for adults for the faotd like this instead of the strictly childish games they have been offering the last few months. Also, due to the fact that I can't go anywhere else but the Amazon app store for apps, and the limited selection of apps they have, I think it's time to buy an iPad concidering all the restrictions Amazon places on the use of these Kindle Fire devices.

1.0 out of 5 stars No App to SD. Settings Glitch.

There is no reason for this app to not be movable to the SD card. Instant one star rating for that.

But, beyond that, the app is frustrating to use. Every photo requires some tweaking of the "ColorBook" style setting, yet the app does not immediately apply any of your settings changes, but, rather, forces you to reopen the picture again before applying the new settings. Poorly designed, in that regard. It is enough to ruin an interesting concept.

There may be a number of free photo editing apps available that can do the outlining that this app does, which would allow you to email and print them for coloring by hand, without this app.

All in all, it was a nice idea, but the developers make it one star because of their poor programming.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun and useful app!

I am really enjoying this app. I've already e-mailed myself a few pictures and printed them out for my child to color. It really cool to be able to color pictures of your family and things you've seen. I love that you can either take a pic through the app or use pics from your gallery to make coloring pages. I wonder why the menu bottom on the main screen doesn't work. It annoys me that in order to change any settings you have to have a picture open and then hit menu and settings. Then the updated settings don't take effect until you close out of that picture and reopen another picture.

I'm not really impressed with the in app coloring, but this isn't a feature I'll be using really anyways. There is a huge color palate, but only one brush type. Granted you can change the size of the brush. It doesn't draw smooth, it lags and is kind of sticky (for lack of a better word). It would be nice if there were a tool for filling everything within the lines with a color. I also noticed that for each picture I kind of have to play around with the "ColorBook style" percentage, which is how detailed the lines and images are, depending on the picture. Some pictures look better with more detail and some look better with less.

Overall though this app is really cool. I can imagine making many, many pages and using them for various things (children's cards, homemade coloring book, gifts, ect). I haven't had a single problem with loading pictures or anything on my Galaxy Nexus.

5.0 out of 5 stars Got it for my toddler on my Tab, also put it on my Fire for me.

Most of these writing and drawing type apps I get I install on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 so my youngest daughter can practice her writing and drawing skills with a stylus pen on the touch screen. I also install books and other learning apps on it for her instead of spending a gazzillion dollars on LeapFrog apps and books on her Leap Pad.
I have a Fire that only has apps for my usages.
That being said, my daughter ,4, loves this app for coloring photos taken on the Tab or my phone and copied to the Tab. The layout and menu is easy for her to use and she is even starting to mess with making her own custom shades ,though her motor skills hold her back from getting the exact shade sometimes. Until she gets it right she uses the heck out of the erase feature.
For me I'm really having a blast coloring certain areas of photos with real colors while leaving the rest grayscale or the comic book look of coloring pages.
If you want an app that really is for the young or young at heart this is a keeper that as long as you don't try to get photoshop accuracy you'll enjoy quite a bit.
It's well put together, easy to use and works well on a stock Galaxy Tab,3.2, a stock Fire,6.31 and a stock HTC Rezound,2.34.

Reviewed in the United States on May 18, 2012
greetings fellow amazonians this morning I took pictures of mongo and used colorbook to color him in. first he was white and I mean casper the ghost white. then I made him yellow and he looked like the kid from the teletubbies. then I made him blue and he looked like verruca salt. finally I made him green and showed him he said "I look like Mr. Yuck!" then he puked on me. shouldn't have let him eat sugar while I played with this app. beware it will take your attention from more important things

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome App!
Reviewed in the United States on May 21, 2012
This is the most used app on my mobile device. Prior to use, I did not think much of this app, being the app of the day. Low and behold, never judge a book by its cover. This is an awesome app! I have taken more pictures because of this app. The more I use it, the more functionality I discover. I have read other reviews that gave this app less rating, wanting more options and what not. Some people you just can't satisfy. If I had to pay for this app, it would have been money well spent! Again, AWESOME APP!
