The Ring Floodlight Camera is awesome! It's super bright and lights up my driveway . The camera quality is clear, and I love how it sends alerts when it detects motion. It was easy to set up, and now I feel a lot safer at night. Highly recommend if you're looking for a good security light!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very reliable

The camera is very reliable and easy to install. We have been very pleased with the results. It is hard wired and easy to install. The pictures are clear and has great definition. The only downside, if you can call it that, is the sensitivity. If we do not keep our shrub cut then it will set off the camera.

I have used Ring for many years. We recently added more to our property. This one was delivered on 4-3-24. It stopped working on 7-25-24. You can see it was able to get rain in it. Will see if ring stands behind their product and will update if so. Update: ring stood by their product and sent a replacement. Thank you Rudy for all your help.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spend the extra money and get the pro!

I purchased the wired version because we were replacing an existing flood light. Went with the pro version because I wanted it for security reasons as well as lighting.
Very easy to install. The mounting was easy as well. I didnt purchase the battery version so I can’t speak on battery life. This picked up rain and moths when at high sensor level!
The image quality is great! I can tell what kind of sneakers people at the top of the driveway are wearing! Works great for security reasons or just to be a nosey neighbor lol. I can see who’s walking by my house and why at any given time of the day!
I don’t have anything negative to say about this product. Would definitely recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT product, but know your Wi-Fi and internet’s limitations
Reviewed in the United States on January 13, 2022
We have a large 3-level house, so I bought 5 of these to get complete coverage. We also have a ring doorbell. I’ll break down my review into parts because I have a lot to say.

nstallation

The base comes with a built-in tab that you can hang the unit from while you’re on the ladder and wiring it up. This works well if you’re mounting it vertically. However I had 2 locations where I had to mount it upside down (replacing older light fixtures), and in that case the ribbon holding the unit wasn’t long enough, so I had to rig up an extension with an old lanyard. The ribbon needs to be just 2” longer.

Activation in the App

Ring did a great job here. Every one of my units was connected to Wi-Fi within a few minutes, and after downloading the latest code they were off and running. I used my iPhone 13 for setup, and it’s very intuitive if you’re somewhat technically inclined.

Connectivity

I checked the device health and noticed that 3 units were in the red, so I added a UniFi Wi-Fi access point to that side of the house, which mostly solved the problem. Ideally you want the RSSI to be better than -70, but I have one unit that still shows -74 and it works fine. Live View takes 3-4 seconds to come up on all my units. My 2 access points are UniFi UAP-AC-HD and UniFi UAC-AC-PRO.

Day-to-Day Use

The Ring software comes with a rich set of options. We had to activate Smart Alerts to avoid getting alerts for cats and raccoons, but that feature works well. The lights still come on immediately, but it seems to takes a few more seconds to get an alert for a Person. This is a fair trade-off. Ring’s app is easy to use, and my non-nerd wife figured it out pretty quickly.

I signed up for Protect Plus, currently $10 a month. It stores 60 days of video with no usage limits. I feel like this is a good price.

Summary

I haven’t used older Ring units, so I can’t compare to them, but I’m very happy with the quality of Ring’s latest software and hardware. This weekend I’ll be adding an indoor alarm system. Highly recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars Pricey, But Good Overall Camera. Seeing Details Such as Faces, Not So Much
Reviewed in the United States on May 21, 2024
Purpose:
Hardwired to existing electrical boxes for 24-7 function (as long as you have power). Overall, I don't know why these are pricey. For most people's purposes, good overall camera. Here are some details:

Camera Resolution:
Pro 2 are 1080P camera resolution, not 4K/8K. Because resolution is not 4K/ 8K, seeing details such as faces from a *distance,* not so great. General images/ video good for most purposes.

Why Pro 2:
The Pro 2 (2024) is a HUGE difference from older models. If you want decent camera security, pony up and get higher quality (latest versions). I would not consider similar battery-operated Ring 1 cameras because you'll have to change the (lithium) battery, and if the camera is high mounted, this can get annoying. I used hardwired camera to electrical socket from inside the residence.

Despite many public claims, small lithium batteries don't last 5 years. Maybe 6 months to 1 year at best, when using 24-7. That is my experience with many lithium battery-powered devices over many years.

Ring Pro 2 Flood Lamps:
The LED flood lamps on this version creates enough light to light up like near daylight in total darkness.

The Ring App:
The Ring app is easy to use. You can track all your Ring cameras/ devices from the App. You can also share the app from the master account (registered user) with other family members or authorized persons. ONLY the master account (registered user), can delete videos and change the settings for devices.

Using the Ring app, you can also customize the camera to a reasonable coverage area, and adjust it for alerts. This camera even picked up small cats, dogs, and even a small rodent in the middle of the night outside near (covered) trash cans.

The flood lamp stays on (you decide how long, how bright or even all night. Adjust it easy from the App). I think it's best for flood lamps to come on when motion is detected at night only. I prefer maximum flood light brightness. No more hiding in the dark from passing strangers.

Camera Privacy Note:
Make sure your cameras are not covering over your neighbor's private property lines. Also note to insure the (hand-adjustable) flood lamps aren't pointing at neighbors that might keep them up at night.

Siren Feature:
I have not used the siren yet. I think it will freak out the neighbors. If you have a need for an audible alert such as for a business at night, maybe turn on the siren. Keep in mind anything that comes within the range, will trigger an alert. If you are using the siren, it can alert a lot unless no one is supposed to be in your camera zone (coverage) area.

Install:
Get someone who understands electrical box outlets (plugs). Power down residence before installing/ touching live hot wires!

Ring Help:
Toll free help line was helpful when I had some install issues.

VPN:
VPN is not supported by Ring. If using a VPN (virtual private network), you'll have to turn that app off first before using the Ring app. Then, turn the VPN back on after you're done. I know it's annoying, but if you want to use VPN, this is how to do it.

Cellular or Wi-Fi.
Ring works on your own WiFi network. Suggest use your cell phone's cellular data and WiFi. If use WIFI only, you won't see alerts until you have WIFI again.

Ring Neighborhood Sharing:
Not sharing with neighbors because they don't need to be notified when I come and go, and when.

Hope this helps.

5.0 out of 5 stars It was easy to set up and works

It’s working well two days into it. Seems like a substantial improvement over my blink system. Somehow can determine human vs other objects which is a setting option. I like that it takes a picture every minute or so to review stuff.
