About this item

From New York Times Bestselling author Kristen Proby comes the final installment in her beloved Wilds of Montana series, featuring a small town, marriage of convenience, second chance love for the ages!

I have loved Millie Wild for more than eight years. Since that summer long ago when we were inseparable, stealing moments, keeping our love a secret.

And my girl has hated me for just as long.

When my father found out about my love for Millie, the daughter of the rival family next door to us, he threatened everything I love the most if I didn’t let her go. My father didn’t give idle threats.

I had to hurt her to save her.

And for eight long years, I stayed away. But now, my father is dead and buried, leaving a caveat in the will that in order to inherit what’s rightfully mine and my sisters’, I have to marry and stay that way for one full year.

There’s only one woman in the world that I would consider saying I do to.

Millie is happy with her life, owning her coffee shop, enjoying her family. I deserve her glares, her snarky comments. Every moment of pain, from her or self-inflicted, is mine to own. She deserves so much more than me, standing on her doorstep, asking her to marry me. To help me.

But she says yes. Yes to one year of being mine, and I plan to show her that she’ll be mine until the stars fall from the sky.

With the name Lexington, I know that I’ve caused pain for not only Millie but the entire Wild family. Will I be able to convince my wild rose that I’m in love with her for all of the right reasons, or will the centuries-old family rivalry tear her away from me?

4.5???? 2????️

This was everything I wanted and more in the finale to the series!!

Holden, my goodness, the man that you are ???????? I’m obsessed with his hand necklaces. The fact that he did this to Millie every chance he got, regardless of where they were ???? he just HAD to always have his hands on her. It was so hot. ????

The amount of times I laughed when Holden refused to answer Millie whenever she called him anything other than husband. ????

Holden and Millie are so perfect for together, equally obsessed with each other. & that’s the kind of energy I love to see! Both were protective and possessive over each other, and they both secretly loved how obsessed the other was with them.

Their story involved a marriage of convenience along with a second chance to get things right, and Holden did not hold back. The minute they were married the man couldn’t wait to call her “wife” and he never let up. ????

This was the spiciest out of the whole series! I loved it. These two couldn’t get enough, like rabbits ????

I had the audio for this, and holy smokes.. Sebastian York played Holden PERFECTLY. ???? Grace Grant was a new to me narrator and I really liked her performance. The audio is definitely worth picking up! It made the book that much more enjoyable. ????

I’m sad this series is over, but I’m so excited for what’s next with the Blackwell!! ????

Tropes:
???? second chance
???? marriage of convenience
???? rival families
???? "my wife"
???? enemies to lovers
???? found family
???? small town
???? cowboy romance

I have loved this series set in Bitterroot Valley! This was the perfect ending to the series, and I love that Kristen is doing an additional series focused on the Blackwells of Bitterroot Valley next!

Millie and Holden were the perfect couple to end this series on. Their forbidden romance has been lurking in the background of every book and I was so excited for it to finally come into the light. I never would have expected their history, but it made me love them even more.

Millie and Holden shared one perfect month before Holden was forced to break her heart to keep her safe. But now that his father is gone, and the will stipulates he get married in the next 60 days, there is only one woman Holden would ever marry. And while it starts out as a marriage of convenience, Holden intended to use that year to prove his love for Millie and keep her forever.

This story had a lot of emotion behind it. Holden finally opening up about what he and his sisters went through was heartbreaking. And then to have Millie’s dad be so cold and unforgiving towards him was equally as heartbreaking as it was maddening. I love the way everything came together in the end. The Wilds and the Lexingtons had a hundred year rivalry that essentially ended with Millie and Holden’s marriage, but getting the rest of the family on board was more of a battle than they anticipated.

My Rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️

In Short: Who doesn't love a small town off-limits/forbidden romance with a Romeo & Juliet couple previously torn apart? I really enjoyed this one. I've been waiting for this book in the series for awhile.

General Thoughts: I have really enjoyed the backdrop of Montana and the Wild family in this series. If you like small-town romance with swoon-worthy, boy-obsessed MMCs, then this is a great series to check out. I have been waiting for this book in the series for awhile now. Proby has been foreshadowing this couple from the beginning. They have danced around each other for awhile, so I was excited to see their story finally. It was an enjoyable read. Always bittersweet to see a series end. I received a review copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Spice Meter: ❤️‍????.5 Spicy but not overly spicy.

Reading Order: Interconnected standalones. Prior characters make cameos. You could jump in here though.

I Need A Book Break
5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic end to an amazing series!

I absolutely loved this book! We’ve gotten sneak peaks of Mille & Holden in the other Wild books, but I was not ready for their full story! Their past crushed me and a million HEAs wouldn’t make up for everything they’ve endured.

Millie and Holden had everything stacked against them. Their family have a deep seeded rivalry and they just do not interact. Somehow, Millie and Holden secretly connected, but were quickly ripped apart. The death of Holden’s father brings them back together and into a marriage of convenience, which Millie’s family is very displeased about.

The secret pining in this book is top tier. There was so much angst and OMG my heart breaks for Holden (his swoony secret tattoos) and his sisters. I loved the moments where Millie stepped up and stood by him despite her family. Holden absolutely deserved someone who had his back.

Despite having some very heavy moments (especially while discussing Holden’s past), there were some light and funny moments. For the beginning of the book, sarcasm was their love language. The banter was fantastic.

She’s a Wild One is the fifth book in the The Wilds of Montana series. I’ve loved this series so much! I can’t wait to see what this author decides to write next.
