Grabbed this for my oldman who hates messing w/ carbs on small engines. Had a couple smaller 6hp TECUMSEH snowblowers. Put this on a cpl and says they run great. hasnt complained yet.
Bolted this on a blower that was sitting for 3 years, as well as another someone was throwing out. And had'm all fired up after fresh gas and spark plugs.
90% of the time, the floats are stuck open or closed on these small engine carbs, either flooding them out, or not giving them enuff fuel too stay running.. And is a simple fix by taking apart and cleaning the float needle/jets/ etc. or getting a new kit.
But theres nothing like a complete new carb.
I was gonna take the bowl off and check the float. But i figured if bolt i on and try it. and on both types of blower, both started and Just gonna run it till it acts up. got a cpl tanks threw both and so far so good.
But for the price, cant beat a whole carb that bolts on and runs. Me and my oldman like too always have extra parts around for small engines. and this is a good temp' carb too keep it running while take time and rebuild and clean the OEM carb. And leave it on the shelf for next time i need it..
Or you could mix and match parts. But I wouldnt advise that with these clones.
Only thing I noticed, is the smaller carbs in these kits, dont have as many adjustments as some older oem carbs, or like the larger carbs for 8-10hp.... Prob a good thing in a way..
As theres nothing for the kids or nuBB'e too turn and mess up.. Except for idle adjustment..
No way too tune or tweak the fuel mixture threw-out the rpm range but didnt have too anyway..
Its a snowblower, not a race car, or streetbike. Besides, it didnt matter. it started easy and ran at all settings, and kept running all day. next day it stared up did the same..
We Tried these on 2x diff small engine TECUMSEH blowers,1 mtd an 1 murray or something.. Also 1 larger 10hp ARIENS,( I got another cheap clone carb for from another listing) thou; there all swappable. You can put this smaller 4-6hp carb on a 10 and vice-vers. thou some will run warm, less power, usually better at low and mid rpm. But usually better than worse depending on adjustment..
There yard tools. Not flat tack quarter midget racers..
This kit seems too be set perfect for 4-6hp older TECUMSEHs.
ALL 3X i put these clone kits on, start and stay running. Really all that matters for a yard tool.
Even came with all the extra bits'- fuel line, shut off valve, primer, and filter, choke knob... Didnt need, but the primer, on/off valve and filter etc. Is nice too have. And if its a older machine worth changing too help eliminate any problems. I used the filters, primer and line on one. Only carb on other.
If you can change oil you can prob' change this. and save tons of money vs. taking it too a shop.
I dont know how many times ive saved blowers and other small engines from the scrap all from a simple good soak and blow' carb clean, tan clean, and new spark plug helps..
If you got spark, but hard start, wont stay running, wont rev, etc etc. Id just grab a kit like this and try it before you give in.
The fuel line is OK. could be a bitt longer, but long enuff too get it running atleast. And help elimnate one more little problem that'll keep these engines from running/starting easy.
-Along with cleaning out the fuel tank. checking for spark. thats about all there is for the small engines.. Unless something major is wrong. but usually not..
Real good kit over-all especially for the price. I dont know if i would install these as a service dealer, but then again Maybe. With no mixture screws, kinda makes them fool proof.. I wouldnt be afraid too keep a few of these around too have too atleast get a engine running.
