5.0 out of 5 stars Great kit for the price too work on older small engine 4-6hp TECUMSEH snowblowers. MTD,Murray.
Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 2022
Grabbed this for my oldman who hates messing w/ carbs on small engines. Had a couple smaller 6hp TECUMSEH snowblowers. Put this on a cpl and says they run great. hasnt complained yet.
Bolted this on a blower that was sitting for 3 years, as well as another someone was throwing out. And had'm all fired up after fresh gas and spark plugs.

90% of the time, the floats are stuck open or closed on these small engine carbs, either flooding them out, or not giving them enuff fuel too stay running.. And is a simple fix by taking apart and cleaning the float needle/jets/ etc. or getting a new kit.
But theres nothing like a complete new carb.
I was gonna take the bowl off and check the float. But i figured if bolt i on and try it. and on both types of blower, both started and Just gonna run it till it acts up. got a cpl tanks threw both and so far so good.

But for the price, cant beat a whole carb that bolts on and runs. Me and my oldman like too always have extra parts around for small engines. and this is a good temp' carb too keep it running while take time and rebuild and clean the OEM carb. And leave it on the shelf for next time i need it..
Or you could mix and match parts. But I wouldnt advise that with these clones.

Only thing I noticed, is the smaller carbs in these kits, dont have as many adjustments as some older oem carbs, or like the larger carbs for 8-10hp.... Prob a good thing in a way..
As theres nothing for the kids or nuBB'e too turn and mess up.. Except for idle adjustment..
No way too tune or tweak the fuel mixture threw-out the rpm range but didnt have too anyway..

Its a snowblower, not a race car, or streetbike. Besides, it didnt matter. it started easy and ran at all settings, and kept running all day. next day it stared up did the same..

We Tried these on 2x diff small engine TECUMSEH blowers,1 mtd an 1 murray or something.. Also 1 larger 10hp ARIENS,( I got another cheap clone carb for from another listing) thou; there all swappable. You can put this smaller 4-6hp carb on a 10 and vice-vers. thou some will run warm, less power, usually better at low and mid rpm. But usually better than worse depending on adjustment..
There yard tools. Not flat tack quarter midget racers..

This kit seems too be set perfect for 4-6hp older TECUMSEHs.

ALL 3X i put these clone kits on, start and stay running. Really all that matters for a yard tool.

Even came with all the extra bits'- fuel line, shut off valve, primer, and filter, choke knob... Didnt need, but the primer, on/off valve and filter etc. Is nice too have. And if its a older machine worth changing too help eliminate any problems. I used the filters, primer and line on one. Only carb on other.

If you can change oil you can prob' change this. and save tons of money vs. taking it too a shop.

I dont know how many times ive saved blowers and other small engines from the scrap all from a simple good soak and blow' carb clean, tan clean, and new spark plug helps..
If you got spark, but hard start, wont stay running, wont rev, etc etc. Id just grab a kit like this and try it before you give in.

The fuel line is OK. could be a bitt longer, but long enuff too get it running atleast. And help elimnate one more little problem that'll keep these engines from running/starting easy.
-Along with cleaning out the fuel tank. checking for spark. thats about all there is for the small engines.. Unless something major is wrong. but usually not..

Real good kit over-all especially for the price. I dont know if i would install these as a service dealer, but then again Maybe. With no mixture screws, kinda makes them fool proof.. I wouldnt be afraid too keep a few of these around too have too atleast get a engine running.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easier than carb rebuild

Needed carb repair after non-use of 3 years. Had left a full tank of gas when stored. Carb was a mess. This was my 1st attempt to replace a carb. I had no experience at all (70 years old). I watched many videos about carb rebuilds and it looked pretty tricky for a novice.

I found a video about a new carb replacement and found this one. Well, for <$10, I thought "what the hell. I can't make it worse." Getting the old one off was tedious due to frozen bolts and tough screws, but after removal, installing the new one was pretty simple.

Primed it up and tried a few pulls, but no ignition. Used electric starter and more priming and got it running! Had to make some adjustments to governor linkage to get consistent speed.

I highly suggest you take pictures BEFORE removing the old carb to know how and where to reconnect the linkages. Product is well worth the cost for all of the new parts provided as well as the new carb.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to install and plenty of accessories

I replaced a leaky carburetor in my snow blower. This was easy to install and the kit provided several additional components. I used a few of the add ons and saved the rest for future use. The engine fired up on the first pull and ran perfectly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good, workable direct replacment carburetor
Reviewed in the United States on January 17, 2019
I received 4 carburetors as I do a LOT of power equipment repairs on just about anything and have been professionally for over 20 years. Thanks to Ethanol, the fuel system from the hose into the carburetors are taking a besting these days, and the limited, occasional usage of many types of this equipment is only adding to the number of "no starts" or no power, won't run without the choke on are so commonplace these days that it truly is sad.
I had a 5.5 HP Craftsman snowblower that I had tuned, installed new belts, one auger and rebuilt the carburetor on it. I tanked the carburetor in an acid bath for 24 hours (Standard Procedure in my shop) changed the needle valve & seat, removed the plastic "stem" that goes into the carburetor body and is held in by the main jet nut, replaced those orings, replaced the bowl gasket, set the float level, added a new gasket to the intake tube and voila, the snowblower screamed to life. After resetting the engine speeds to where they were supposed to be this unit was ready to plow snow for many years to come...with a little bit of maintenance.
I had also changed the oil as that's almost always overlooked and when you run an engine with the choke even partially on, you're inadvertently "washing" down the cylinder(s) & contaminating the oil, which will always give you skewed mixture settings, idle settings etc. Not to mention that gassed down oil can NOT lubricate or protect as well as clean, fresh engine oil.
One point I forgot to mention is that BEFORE starting to reassemble the fuel system..it is IMPERATIVE to remove & flush out the gas tank as any minuscule pieces of trash that are in your fuel supply can get pored into the unit's gas tank, which mens they eventually find themselves restricting a main jet, which causes all sorts of performance issues.
IT IS ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL that everyone who had any fuel related issues with ANY piece of gasoline powered equipment flush their fuel can/fuel source at least every year!!! You will save yourself MANY issues down the road!
This particular snowblower sat unused with ethanol gasoline sitting in it as my customer was out of town every single time it snowed. When we had out 1st storm earlier this season he quickly discovered his unit wouldn't even try to start, let alone run. The fuel line had collapsed and was a very soft, badly deteriorated hose. This is a DIRECT response to ethanol in gasoline as ethanol IS alcohol and alcohol DESTROYS rubber! That fuel line was 3 years, 4 month sold. I always replace the fuel line & flush the fuel tank with every carburetor rebuild or replacement. It is just a good practice to get into doing for you customers.
Well, the cost of one of these "Chinese" carburetors was LESS than what it would have cost to rebuild his original carb, so my customer opted to give it a try as hell, even with me marking it up a couple dollars, it was still dirt cheap. I finished everything down to the oil change, fuel tank/line replacement & such,,,,bolted the carburetor up and voila, this unit runs like new! I had to reset the low idle speed & the maximum engine speed and the unit works excellent.
The only issue I had with this carburetor was that there was a very minuscule "bind" in the throttle plate that wouldn't allow the engine governor to instantly adjust the throttle position due to changing loads. I removed the carb, felt a slight bind, disassembled the throttle shaft and polished it up with Krokus cloth and now there is more bind at all. The machine works as well as it did when new, and I have another thrilled customer.
I'm going to go on a limb and recommend this brand of carburetors. The only reason I say "go out on a limb) is that to date, I've only used one of these carbs. I have 5 others I ordered for 2 other machines I have here waiting for the customers to authorize my repairing and I bout 2 more, one for a 5-5.5 HP Tecumseh & one for a 7.5 HP Tecumseh as they're the two brands of snowblowers I encounter 90% of the time.
