5.0 out of 5 stars Christopher and Dakota

This was a very emotional read. It tackled some tough subjects such as addiction and death of a spouse. It ended up being a great story of second chances and unconditional love.

One of the things I love about Natasha Madison writing a second generation story, is that she takes some of the best qualities from the parents and makes them better in the kids. Justin Stone fell for Dylan before he even met Caroline, and even though the circumstances are vastly different here, Christopher had some of those same qualities. He already loved Rain and Luna as his best friend’s kids, but his love for them changes with his relationship with Dakota and it mirrors the love Justin showed Dylan.

Dakota and her girls went through so much in this book. Benji really put them through hell and I liked the way it was handled. Both Dakota and Christopher had a lot of baggage to unpack and they did that both together and separately. I felt like their emotions related to Benji were so raw and so real. It made the book extra emotional but it was very well written.

The Stone family is so massive at this point, but I still love each and every member. They always come through for each other and I love the relationships they foster with their kids. I loved Justin’s relationship with Christopher. Max and Matthew brought some humor, as usual. And the wives all embraced Dakota and brought her and her girls into the fold.

This was a great read. It had the perfect mix of emotions. I loved how they got to their happily ever after and the bonus epilogue was fantastic.

Natasha Madison tops even herself with her latest release. This story is more than a hockey romance; it is about love, loss, grief and healing. Anyone who has ever been betrayed and/or hurt on a cellular level will be touched by this book. If you ever thought that you would not be able to heal, this book will give you a small part of yourself back. Natasha Madison does it all while making you laugh with the wit and banter of her characters. This book is easily a #1 book of 2024. Don't miss out on this amazing story.

What a fabulous story! I adored Koda and Christophers’ story. It’s full of emotions (so many emotions!) And just seems so genuine in how a situation and then relationship like this would play out for all parties involved. With Koda having to come to grips that things were even worse than she thought with Benji and still greave and put on a good front for her kids was so emotional. And for Christopher to jump in for the children and Koda was not surprising but it was so genuine and heartfelt you couldn’t help but swoon. And when Koda and Christopher do get together, the fireworks are spectacular! Their steam level is off the charts.
The writing is amazing, you feel all the feelings like the characters. The kids are fun to watch grow and develop as time and attention is lavished on them. Having a family that really does belong together get their HEA is so satisfying!

5.0 out of 5 stars This. This is Why I Read Romance.

Holy Hannah! Okay, wow, I was not prepared for this one. Not even a little. But this phenomenal story is exactly why I read romance. Broken and shattered by betrayal, anger, and grief, a widowed young mother of two adorable girls gets a second chance at love with, wait for it…her deceased husband's best friend. Even knowing that, you still won’t be ready for this one.

Benji, Benji, Benji. I don’t know whether to love or hate him, but even after he's gone his choices and actions ripple through the lives of his loved ones like a Cat 4 tornado with just as much damage. Now his wife, Koda, is left to pick up the pieces and hold things together for her young girls, Rain and Luna. Yes, she has family and Benji's teammate family, but Koda has trouble just getting though the day, much less asking for help.

Benji's teammate and best friend Christopher is the one who waits quietly the wings, ever vigilant for the opportunity to simply be there for Koda and the girls. He offers and she turns him down, but he keeps offering. He keeps showing up. Slowly over time, together they manage to let go of anger and grief, heal old wounds and begin to live again.

Oh my heart, y'all, I love these characters and their story to the moon, and they’ll always own a piece of me. Trust me and batten down your hatches and guard your heart before diving in. It's devastating and ruinous in the best of ways, but you’ll need a tether because this powerful, unforgettable story of forgiveness, healing, and new beginnings will make your heart soar!
