This was a very emotional read. It tackled some tough subjects such as addiction and death of a spouse. It ended up being a great story of second chances and unconditional love.
One of the things I love about Natasha Madison writing a second generation story, is that she takes some of the best qualities from the parents and makes them better in the kids. Justin Stone fell for Dylan before he even met Caroline, and even though the circumstances are vastly different here, Christopher had some of those same qualities. He already loved Rain and Luna as his best friend’s kids, but his love for them changes with his relationship with Dakota and it mirrors the love Justin showed Dylan.
Dakota and her girls went through so much in this book. Benji really put them through hell and I liked the way it was handled. Both Dakota and Christopher had a lot of baggage to unpack and they did that both together and separately. I felt like their emotions related to Benji were so raw and so real. It made the book extra emotional but it was very well written.
The Stone family is so massive at this point, but I still love each and every member. They always come through for each other and I love the relationships they foster with their kids. I loved Justin’s relationship with Christopher. Max and Matthew brought some humor, as usual. And the wives all embraced Dakota and brought her and her girls into the fold.
This was a great read. It had the perfect mix of emotions. I loved how they got to their happily ever after and the bonus epilogue was fantastic.
