Post-COVID burnout is real for all of us. As a working mom and wife, self-proclaimed overachieving multitasking procrastinator, trying to juggle career and parenting, while maintaining a healthy marriage and body during COVID burnout, I found an amazing outlet listening to a podcast with Dr. Aditi Nerurkar. Since then, I’ve followed Dr. Nerurkar on social media, eagerly awaiting her self-improvement book. It delivers! She gets the struggle we face in modern times, trying to “do it all” and somehow pretend like it’s easy. “The 5 Resets” describes how the mind-body connection impacts our health, her personal struggle with what she refers to as our “canary in the coal mine,” and breaks down the resilience myth, using real patients as examples. “The 5 Resets” gives us a way to measure our own stress, actionable tools to combat stress and anxiety, all laid out in plain language (plus an amazing index.) I’ve measured my “Personalized Stress Score” and started using these tools in my life, including “The Bookend Method,” “Sticky Feet Technique” “Monotasking” and “Pomodoro Technique.” I would love to share this book with my doctors, friends, and family. It would make the world a better, less stressed place to live in.
