I absolutely love my Amazon Echo Show 8! The screen size is perfect for video calls, watching shows, and displaying recipes while cooking. The first thing I noticed was the outstanding sound. Very big for the size. The bass hits hard too. When idol, it's always on Photo Frame displaying family vacations, with background music. I use it to control my Fire TV, security cameras, watch Netflix/YouTube, play games, watch the local news, monitor weather, set timers/alarms, etc. Only thing I haven't tried is video conferencing.

I bought it bundled with the stand, a must for me. I work with standing desk. When I need to sit, the stand helps with adjusting the angle for optimum viewing.

A quality product for the price, and easy to setup using existing Amazon account.

High quality screen and speaker

The last Echo I owned was from the earlier 2nd gen, so having a screen on this is a huge step up. The ads and intrusiveness it has however are extremely unwelcome, thankfully it comes with settings that you can change to remove them from appearing in the settings in Home Content. The screen itself is very clear and the speaker is loud and has a surprising amount of bass in a little package. I would recommend buying the stand with it because the speaker's outside material is prone to absorbing or having other colors rubbed off on it, but it's white. If you're expecting this to operate like a tablet however you'd be mistaken as this has very limited functionality in that regard, this is more for having a screen to show you the weather, scroll through family photo's or view your security cameras on.

I recently got my hands on the Amazon Echo Show 8 (3rd Gen), and it has quickly become a central part of my daily routine. The first thing that stands out is the sound quality; the spatial audio feature really enhances music and videos, creating an immersive listening experience that I didn’t expect from a smart display.

The display itself is sharp and vibrant, making video calls feel more personal and enjoyable. I love using it to catch up with family, as the 8-inch screen is the perfect size for a kitchen or living room. The smart home hub functionality is a game-changer too. I can easily control my smart lights and thermostat with just my voice, which adds a level of convenience I didn’t realize I was missing.

Alexa’s responsiveness is impressive as well. Whether I’m setting reminders, asking for recipes, or checking the weather, she’s quick and accurate. Overall, the Echo Show 8 (3rd Gen) combines functionality with entertainment seamlessly, making it a fantastic addition to any smart home.

I only wish the camera was higher quality as it struggles in low light. Also, display sometimes has a half second delay after tapping. Yet, overall I'm very happy with it.

Alexa is incredibly versatile: I can ask her to play music, read me the news, control the lights in the house, and even remind me of important tasks. I love how it recognizes my commands quickly and accurately, even when there is background noise. Additionally, the sound quality is excellent for a device of its size.

The technology on Amazon Echo Show 8 is one generation ahead of the iPad

Over the past 13 or 14 years, I have been exclusively using Apple iPads, spanning from the first generation to the tenth. However, I recently discovered an exceptional device that has prompted me to reconsider my brand loyalty. This remarkable device serves as a versatile hub for all my smart home devices, including a smart thermostat, Google Nest Cam, and Nest Doorbell.
Additionally, it functions as a smart TV, providing access to approximately 8-10 channels, such as CBS, ABC, Bloomberg, and TMZ. Notably, it features a separate speaker, a unique feature not found in regular tablets.
I recently watched the sitcom “The Middle” and found the device’s capabilities particularly useful. Similar to an Echo Dot, I can simply ask Alexa to play music or news, leveraging Amazon’s AI technology to enhance its functionality. I highly recommend this Amazon Echo Show 8 to anyone seeking a powerful and versatile smart device.
Disclosure: I recently purchased four devices (two white and two black) and have already installed three of them.
***Update: Last week, I installed a Google Nest Smart Doorbell. To enable this functionality, I added the “Google Nest” skill to the “Skills and Games” section of the Alexa app. Subsequently, I can simply ask Alexa, “Show me who’s at the front door,” and the view from the front door will be displayed on the screen.

AMAZING HOME DEVICE

I’m a stay at home mom and I absolutely love this device and everything it does for me and my home. I use it for just about everything from watching Netflix/prime while cooking and playing music for my littles to Alexa telling me my little woke up from his nap and there’s someone at the front door! NO COMPLAINTS. The screen is nice and big, the quality is crystal clear (especially since I’ve connected my cameras to it), no issues with brightness, Alexa has great voice recognition, and overall sooooo easy to use and set up. If I ever get rid of it, just know I bought another one LOL
