    I used it to sand a section about 2 feet by 4 inches before it fell apart. Although I wasn’t applying much pressure it got hot enough to melt the glue that holds the metal plate to the sanding disc.

    I use the 12v, the 18v and the corded versions of Ridgid's JobMax system... I used the Ridgid pads that came with my JobMAx multi-tool heads extensively and harshly... They held up very well, especially given my abuse, and I simply needed to replace them due to the heat from the corded JobMax base affecting the glue that holds the pad to the plate... Don't have that problem with either the 12v or the 18v versions and, regardless of base version, the hook and loop part never gave me any problem.
