You are now required to use the Google Home app to control this thermostat. I bought it anyway cuz I figured it would work just fine either way. I was wrong. The Home app is unresponsive and doesn’t really update to current settings until you change the temp. It’s a horrible experience for anyone used to the Nest app. Now I have to find a new thermostat company and won’t be able to use the sweet “spin to change” round thermostat Nest invented. I tried Ecobee when it first came out, but didn’t like it. Maybe it’s improved now?
I’m so angry at Google for ruining what used to be an excellent product. Not recommended.
