    The steering gear operates the steering just like the one that came on the truck. I tied the professional version of the steering gear but had to replace it with this one because the other one did not operate properly. This one works very well.

    There's a popular video on how to replace this but it's with the 2 wheel drive. Some concern about what to do with 4 wheel drive. It's the exact same process, just a little less space. No extra steps. Don't need to loosen anything extra or move the front diff or transfer case.

    I bought seals, but my unit came with the seals already installed.

    Online videos lead you to believe only a little power steering fluid comes out of the hoses. You loose all, if not close to all, the power steering fluid when you disconnect the hoses. Make sure you have enough power steering fluid on hand.

    Don't forget blue loctite for the bolts.

    You're taking off the tie rods anyway. If there's any age on your car save yourself some hassle later and buy a new set. They're not too expensive. Get it all aligned at once.

    Consider replacing the sway bar end links at the same time. The factory ones tend to break and new ones are cheap. The moog ones are great.

    Save the box. You need it to do the core return. One thing to factor in when you're looking around is who pays for return shipping. On Amazon return shipping is included. Other sites required you to pay return shipping.

    My vehicle definitely needed an alignment after replacement.
