    My OG Makita 18V drill died after 20 years of constant use/abuse. Actually, I could have fixed it by installing a $35 gear assembly, but with this refurbished unit available from Amazon for an attractive price, I chucked the old drill (pun intended), and replaced it with this one.

    It says refurbished, but the one I got looks brand new.

    These are great drills. I went back and forth about getting this one or the more expensive "brushless" model. Kind of came down to "The last on lasted 20 years so why upgrade?"

    These Makita 18V are great tools.

    I love this drill. It's very light, powerful and sturdy. The battery lasts a long time for a casual user like me. It fits nicely in my hand. The light could be a bit brighter though. Thank You Makita, you didn't disappoint me ;-)

    Having previously owned a Makita cordless, purchased many years ago, I was pleased to find that this XFD10Z model was more streamlined and easier to handle. My older lithium batteries initially did not fit the newly acquired Makita, but by grinding down a small metal projection in the base of the drill I was able to insert the battery and fully operate the tool.
