Truly a Neumann. This fet condenser microphone is tuned by the factory to emulate the M49 tube condenser microphone of the past. I don’t own a M49 to verify the claim, but this mic has a forward midrange, warm bass response, and crystal clear highs without any harshness. Do yourself a favor and see for yourself. Hear the Neumann difference.

I've owned this mic for about 10 years. Neumann Mics are the best. Whether it's a TLM 103, 102, 49, 67. These mics are different for different reasons. But they are all good. I own these microphones and use them in a studio environment every week. The TLM 49 is a good microphone for female singers and also on rappers. There is a definite bump in the frequency, but it's a neumann sound that it produces. At these prices, they are a steal.

The Neumann TLM 49 is an awesome microphone- very much like the legendary U47 in terms of sultry and sexy tone. Before I bought it I did a side by side comparison with a couple of other microphones that I own. By contrast the other two mics seemed brighter, but the TLM 49 sounded more “finished”. The big surprise came after mix down from a recording session- the TLM 49 laid unbelievably well in the mix- I didn’t have to fight competing frequencies with EQ or compression - it just fit with an amazing natural clarity.
There’s a reason Neumann microphones are heard on the world’s best selling recordings.
Get this mic- you won’t be disappointed!
( For disclosure, I bought my TLM 49 through a well known music store, not Amazon-but I couldn’t bear to see this gem get by with just a single one star rating)
