This was my first time buying anything "reconditioned" from Amazon and it will likely be the last. It was reconditioned by Makita, supposedly, and when I plug it in, yeah, it works for now. No certification from Makita though so I'm wary it was actually reconditioned by them.
Better yet, it was reconditioned over 4 years ago and appears to have been open to the elements and rain since then.
The tool was pretty obviously well used, likely a warranty return to Makita, and that's all fine if it was reconditioned properly. The marketplace seller who sold this reconditioned tool likely had it on an outside garage shelf or something completely open to the elements since then....or it was the somebody's personal tool which they replaced under warranty before flipping/buying new. But I'll put my tinfoil hat away for now.
What a shame. Other posts said their tools were "like new" condition and even Amazon's policy was that their certified reconditioned tools are in "excellent" condition.
This tool was "good - used" condition. I wouldn't pay more than $40 for this on Facebook marketplace or eBay in it's condition considering theres no warranty beyond 90 days. Makita tools last, but it's not nice to pay for a used 4 year old tool out of somebody's garage... And not pay garage prices.
