We liked this product because it came without the expense of added battery and charger, which we already owned. Bought it because it is electric, quieter, and lower carbon emissions

UPDATE 7/8/2024: After accepting my return this seller charged a $75 restocking fee, a full half of the purchase price. Don't buy from the guys!

Original review: After only 1 hour of use, the motor apparently got so hot it melted the mounting and locked up the motor. It's also clear from the twisted wiring and bent plastic tabs inside the housing that the unit was worked on and improperly reassembled.

It is lightweight and easy to use, but I was disappointed that it did not flip in order to use it as an edger along the sidewalk as my previous one was.

I already had a Ryobi blower and chainsaw so I have 2 batteries and 2 chargers so I purchased the one without and saved some money.

The power and design & lightweight functionality of this weed eater is Great! Except one thing. The spool which holds weed eater line has a small button you press to allow more line to come out of spool when you need to lengthen line as you need to. However, that little button is designed in a place on the spool that unfortunately allows debris objects and the weed eater line itself to accidentally hit that little button sometimes & sometimes not(Pending how close to ground with head of weed eater you are & what your weed eating) so that while your weed eating, more line than you need will come out & disfunction the spinning of the spool as it rotates(because to much line is out) and mine actually at one point started to smoke, till I realized what was going & what the problem was. Too much line out will throw off the balance of the spool and cause it not to spin smoothly on the shaft, which in turn gets it hot & it smokes. Also forces more energy to be used by battery to spin the spool which has to much line out & doesn’t turn spool smoothly. The only thing I could do was to keep a pair of clippers in my pocket as I was weed eating yard(would have to stop every 2 minutes quite a bit of the time) and snip weed eater line to proper length every time to much line came out(without you wanting it too). That got annoying old quickly. So no 5 stars because of the Poor Design of the spool & where that little button is on that spool & how easy it is for the weed eater line itself & debris objects are able to hit that little button, causing at times(sometimes multiple times) randomly unneeded line to come out while your weed eating. I read other similar reviews about this problem on this weed eater and bought it anyways, cause I’m faithful fan of Ryobi products & have a lot of Ryobi products & this is the FIRST ONLY of any Ryobi Products that I have ever needed to saying anything about design, form, functionality or performance.

Only received “the stick”, no head unit with the string. This was listed as “battery and Charger not included”, but that’s not all!!! Being returned today.
