5.0 out of 5 stars Works great for extending my base station

This fulfilled its purpose perfectly, it replaced an older non-Apple wifi that was connected via Ethernet cable to my base station. I had 2 networks before, now I have one better network!

Use for sound purposes only. Very stable connection for controlling Audio consoles around venues.
Wish Apple didn't discontinue them, sad. Buy them because they will not last in the market.
It has a 3.5mm connection in the back for playback.

One star rating refers to the length of time this item performed. When this airport went down115 days after purchase, I had to replace it. Would not recommend.

Purchased this refurbished Airport Express for the purpose of extending my wifi network into the garage. Although this tech is about a decade old, it meets my needs, my service is 400/20, and my main Airport base station (Time Machine) is more than adequate.
Ran cable from the garage through the atttic to the Basestation, powered up, and configured through the Airport utility, done! Now I have solid wifi when I’m working out, and the Tesla can download it’s updates fast.
Two pro tips: If you are purchasing this Express to increase the range of your network consider choosing the option, “create a new network” during set up. Airport Utility will by default recommend you choose “extend a network (recommended)” but that is usually not optimal, and may in fact slow down your wifi network due to increased headroom. But choosing “create a new network” you are in effect creating a new access point in that area of the house, but is actually in bridge mode and transfer data to/from the Basestation over ethernet.
Pro Tip #2: Look at the plastic mounting brackets available for the Express, so you can mount this unit high up your wall, for better wifi coverage.
Cheers!

I needed to down load or reestablsh the Apple WiFi program to make sure eveything was up to the task before I connected the refurbished Apple WiFi unit. Remember the sequence of connecting the two cables.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works fine For my setup

Its a good solution as a backup for the smart audio system.
I have a smart sound system that supports airplay, sometimes due to network problems the airplay list doesn’t show up, so I bought this device as a backup airplay device. I connected it to my network and connected the audio jack to the sound system, now i can stream audio from my phone or any device to my sound system.
What I like about it is that it can be connected to a sound mixer, speaker, etc through the 3.5 audio jack and it can easily be found in the airplay list.

I already had a few of these. Setup and management are very easy. I’m alarmed that Apple stopped making these.
I have full strength WiFi throughout my 5000 sq ft home and for at least 50 yards in all directions outside. Even on the other side of the pool! It doesn’t fade out until you get off of my property and even then, it is good enough to operate my HomeKit equipment.
