Few could find fault with the sound of the MD421 on male & female voice without EQ. It is a popular choice on Brass, Sax, Drums (not overhead). I use it for VO in an untreated room, without sound baffles, or booth. It has a pleasant proximity effect when used closely with good pop rejection, when carefully placed. My previous go to VO mic is the 77DX (look it up). It's rivals are the low output SM7 & RE20, both excellent btw. The only beef is the notoriously fussy mic clip, the same as introduced in 1960 by Fritz Sennheiser, it has a square body resembling an electric shaver, so it won't share the mic clip.
