Short and sweet, save yourself from searching and watching a bunch of YT videos. Wyze Thermostat with 2 wire connection PLUS a 24v AC to AC transformer works perfectly and takes munutes to install. Ready?: White wire to W1 on thermostat, Red wire to Rh. A 24v AC/AC transformer: one of the wires (absolutely doesn't matter which one) to C on the thermostat and the other one to Rc. They push in from the top (not the front where the thermostat pins plug in). Run the easy peasy Wyze setup and you're done! Remember: turn off the furnace breaker before starting this project. And give me a HELPFUL! ????

I bought a refurbished one, which isn't like me. I only buy new stuff, especially when it comes to electronics. But I assumed these are being returned because people don't know how to install them... and I was right. Besides the original packaging being all beat up and missing wire labels, it was in pretty good condition. My furnace is from 1985 so I need to use the C-Wire adaptor because I only had 4 wires going to my old thermostat. The wiring was a little time consuming but the app shows extremely detailed instructions on how to install it. It works very well and does its job so far. Controlling the thermostat anywhere from my phone is great! Although, I'm not crazy about the oval design, I wish it was rectangular like most modern things are, but for the price I cant complain. Its a big upgrade from a basic thermostat.

This is a great alternative to a nest if you dont want to spend hundreds. All of the same functionality at a fraction of the price.

Installation was a bit harder than other smart thermostats i've done, but that was due to my system not having a C wire. This kit did include a C wire adapter, and clear instructions that when followed did result in it working perfectly. I don't blame the kit at all, as it had everything needed.

I would buy this over a nest if i had to do it again

I installed this according to the instructions with the included adapter. It never did anything more than make an audible clicking noise. It did not power ok the screen. Wyze support was useless. The person on the phone told me "the technical team only communicates by email". I said that wasn't acceptable and that if I did not receive an email with a solution in twenty minutes I would return the product. No email came. So reinstalled the old thermostat that I wanted to replace.

I bought 2 of the “Amazon Renewed” Wyze thermostats. I could not be more pleased with the installation procedure! Even though I’m capable of installing thermostats without such great instructions, Wyze has created a step-by-step installation guide that is a model for other DIY instruction writers to emulate. They’ve thought of everything and included exactly what you need in the kit. The instructions become customized for your HVAC wiring as you inform the app of what you have in terms of wiring to your system. I have 2 HVAC systems from different eras, and the Wyze instructions interpreted each system properly, resulting in customized graphics for each unit. Oh, and they work great.

The only issue I had with the install was not Wyze fault. There was a broken wire near the furnace. Once I had a HVAC check it out and replace the wire, it was a very easy install. The program is intuitive and easy to use.

I think that for the price it is an amazing deal. Installation was a bit of a thinker as I live in an apartment and instructions are intended for a slightly smart/updated system. Figured it out. Found it easier to make a C-wire than to use the adapter as that part of the set up left me with many questions. User friendly on both app and device. Only wish is that I could track the temperature fluctuations.

We have a vacation house, I really like being able to control my a/c at home. Beware you can't use this on every unit. No heatpumps. My home a/c is not compatible. Took some video watching on YouTube and have to follow digital instructions, possibly need an electrician or a/c guy if you're not familiar with this sort of thing.
