    Working on a headboard cabinet for my daughter and wanted to get a RO sander for it. Read many reviews on this product and looked at a number of others as well.

    Pros:
    - Dust collection and connections are great. Has a 2-1/2" and a smaller 1-1/4" connection. I just bought a small 1/2" pvc coupler and I can connect my 1 1/4" shopvac to it easily. It comes with a dust bag, I haven't used that.
    - Has both a 1/4" and 1/8" random setting so you can change the amount of movement for different jobs
    - Variable speed so you can control the amount of material you remove very easily
    - Seems very well built, was reconditioned but looked new when it came
    - 12' power cord is very long and the plug in is lighted so you know when there is power to it. It also has a valcro cord wrap which is great for connecting it to the vacuum hose when you're working.
    - Very smooth, little vibration when holding it so you can sand for a long time.
    - Soft start was a bit goofy at first but you learn to like it.
    - Lock on button is really nice so you don't have to continue to hold the button.

    Cons:
    - 6" hook sanding pads are not a common sand paper size at the stores. Home Depot carries them but none of the other local stores do. I ordered some through Amazon.

    All in all this is a great sander, very happy with it and am sure it'll see a lot of projects.

    I don't know why there would be so many of these refurbs, but it made me wonder if a new one from HD +$40 was worth finding out.
    I used the savings here to load up on 6" discs and proper gloves for the size of the job I bought this for.

    This ROVS sander is very good and I love working with it. I bought it reconditioned so it had some scuff marks on it when received but it works just fine. The back end attaches to my 2" dia shop vac which improves removal of sanded particles. There are two modes of operation (mild and aggressive) and one can adjust the speed via the dial (A, B, C, etc. settings) in each mode. Overall, a tool that will get the job done.

    I have been looking at this sander for some time. All I have had in the past are small 5 in. sanders and wanted a larger unit. I own other Ridgid tools and have had good service with them. I am very happy with this sander it is comfortable to use and does a great job.

    Here is the most helpful review. I bought 1 rigid 6 inch factory reconditioned. Liked the product how it worked. Very aggressive and fast results. I work in the sanding and refinishing of flooring. We use them as a final cut on edges.
    After a few jobs I decided to get one more. Even after the first use the second one sounded very loud and strange.
    Less then a year they both died one after another. One is a little over a year second one less than a year.
    In conclusion.
    Pros:
    Excellent dust pick up will fit any shop vac hose;
    Aggressive with fast results;
    Great price;
    Cons:
    Broke in less than a year;
    Dust bag is useless;
    Poor repair service I got a bad piece from start having 2 I could compare;
    Having all this feedback from customers by now they could had come with a better design or some;
    It seems they just don't care.

    I bought this to refinish my hardwood floors and so far it is working well with the exception that the pad that the sandpaper goes on, does not hold up very well. I'm still using the same pad so far, but will probably need another one pretty soon. I like the power, though and the fact that it does have a bag that catches almost all the sawdust. It also is made so you can hook up a shop-vac to it in which case the only thing that does not get sucked up is maybe a little bit of the grit from the sandpaper. I like that it has I think 5 or 6 different speeds and also has a setting for the random orbit speed. You can also lock the trigger in place so you don't have to keep holding down the trigger. So far I like everything except the sanding pad does not hold up too well.
