I have a whole slew of Ryobi power tools at home, including some reconditioned products that have held up very well. When I needed an inexpensive reciprocating saw for work for very light occasional duty, this fit the bill. It's a decent saw with enough power for most light to medium duty jobs. Hard to go wrong with Ryobi, especially since it's a lot less money than many of their competitors.

I bought this saw specifically for dismantling wooden shipping pallets so I can use the wood to make wine racks and other wood projects. Of course this means sawing through many nails and various types of wood. Simply put, this saw crapped out less than three months after purchasing it and after only using it dismantling four to five pallets per week. I was certain to use the correct blades for this type of work, but one day, the blade just stopped moving and a few minutes later, nothing happened except a soft humming noise when I squeezed the trigger. At first, I was definitely impressed with the saw, as it did have a lot of power, but it certainly did not last long at all. I'll be trying a different brand for my next reciprocating saw purchase. Maybe I got a bad one, but I'll only give this one star because I had expected it to last a whole lot longern

My husband seemed pleased with the overall condition of this item, although he has not used it as yet. He thinks it is a good value. It did take about 10 Days to get here, so bear that in mind if you are in a hurry.

My company currently has five sawzalls. We remodel and renovate older homes. Some are shot or pretty beat up with sloppy and torn shoes and loose pistons....Bosch, Hitachi, Makita, Dewalt, Milwaukee, electric and battery. The Ryobi is pretty smooth with decent balance and an easy blade change tab. It's all around pleasant after limited use. It will be interesting to see how it holds up which doesn't have to be too long given the cost.
