5.0 out of 5 stars Just right for me

I was not really sure I needed a smart watch, so this purchase was a test run to understand the workings and benefits a smartwatch offers.
The model I am reviewing is not the latest offering and it is a refurbished item. However, it is a really good match for what I figured my discovery needs would be. It hit every mark and then some.
Here are my high points in sort of bullet point form: The watch mates with an app on my cell phone. The app is easy to download, has tons of data and fairly simple to use. The short side is that it is a bit slow on my phone, an older Samsung. (My phone is off most of the day. So, this may contribute to slow.) There are a lot of features, but I just use a few regularly; workout-walking, sleep measurements, heart rate and good old time/date. Walking is what I do for exercise. The watch tracks and stores a lot of walking workout data. Some unexpected things like elevation change, heart rate chart, step count and length along with a measured GPS track. Very cool. That data is stored in the Zepp app on my phone and up-dates seamlessly when the Zepp app is active. Custom faces are available for free and up to 2 bucks inside the app. A tad addictive here since there are a lot of choices. I think I downloaded at least six and have one that seems to be my daily user. More of the cool factor here.
Some closing comments since there is really too many features to detail in full. I have just covered the things I use and find helpful. My pre-purchase regimen is to look at several on-line video reviews and there was plenty of material out there for a good decision. Briefly on measurements, I have no way to test the accuracy of the data. But it does seem to be reasonably, intuitively, accurate. Finally, my experience with a renewed item: It shipped quickly and came in the original box in like new condition.
This watch did inspire me to do more on my workout. The data produced showed me that I was not doing enough work even though I thought I was. Just a little more effort and the stats looked way better.
In closing, it is above my expectations in build quality, features, app interface and overall utility.

5.0 out of 5 stars Battery Champion! Good Tracking Overall
Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2024
This fitness watch is a battery champion, and it is an understatement. With light exercise, 24-hour blood oxygen/heart rate monitoring, and sleep tracking, I have been getting around 17 days with ~60% battery usage and this is insane. Since I have bought this watch (45 days ago), I have charged it only 3 times and that too because I only charged it to ~80% each time.
I have seen tons of reviews online and how folks have performed scientific studies to measure the accuracy of the sensors but my take on is that measurements are darn close if not perfect. I compared the readings with pulse oximeter that we bought during Covid era, and the heart rate and saturations measurements match up perfectly. GPS accuracy is also good. Locks quickly and tracks your walk/runs near perfectly. Honestly, I am not the one who is bothered by GPS tracking missing by couple meters. I use it for my reference for later analysis only.
Cannot comment on Sleep tracking, every company has their own sleep algorithm to identify sleep quality, but I feel sleep tracking is good on this device. It also records nap times which almost all other watches do not do.
A few things I do miss is NFC payment, limited reply option on messaging services and flight of stairs tracking. I already knew that this watch does not have NFC feature and I have not missed it much because I always have phone or wallet with me, and believe me tapping a physical card is way faster than pushing a button then entering unlock code and then completing the transaction within 60s (that's how my galaxy active2 worked) but I guess it is FOMO of not having this feature that I might need it someday in emergency.

Flight of stairs is another thing that I do not understand. When I climb stairs, I can see change in barometer readings, but it just does not record or records incorrectly. There is 9 feet difference in barometer when I climb stairs up, but it just does not increment the stairs card accordingly which is very strange. I believe it has got to do with changing weather. I hope this algorithm can also be improved in future software release but I not sure if this watch would get Zepp OS 3, so chances are slim

I hope Amazfit can at least add a keyboard to reply to message from watch directly and have good support for emojis and font in future release.

Overall, I feel it is a solid fitness watch for most people who are involved in casual training and workout and even for Fitness enthusiast who want to use this watch as a companion for training as this watch also supports external accessory that can record exact biometrics readings.

4.0 out of 5 stars Incredibly useful, some drawbacks

Purchased a couple months ago and overall I love it. The workout settings are great and help motivate me to get out and get working. Blutooth control works perfectly for music, the GPS for outdoor runs is very accurate. I can keep my phone on silent and the watch alerts me for calls and texts. Battery life is excellent, and it's built tough.
On the not so good list,
The sensors for sleep must be programmed off of the heart sensor, which kinda sucks. It skips whole hours of the day and night and sends alerts to get a sleep study.
The alerts for movement and steps are very annoying and don't take into account what time of day it is. Every night without fail it tells me to get up and get moving when I'm about to fall asleep in bed. I'm sure there is a way to disable it but I haven't found it yet for the final reason I dislike.
The menu system is totally non intuitive. Typical for Chinese products, it is rather hard to navigate and find what you need.

Overall it's pretty good, and I'm happy with the purchase

5.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected.

When I ordered this watch, I thought it would be somewhat mediocre. Boy, was I wrong! This is an awesome watch. I’m blown away at how long the battery lasts. My wife has an Apple Watch and, it has to be charged every night. When I got the T Rex 2, I fully charged it. About two weeks later, I still had about 72 percent battery left. As for the heart rate accuracy, I don’t think it is 100 percent accurate, but I also don’t think any watch will be 100 percent. Look, if you are on the fence about purchasing this watch, do it. I promise you will not regret it.
