5.0 out of 5 stars My new favorite tool.

My $500 Dewalt Miter saw was my favorite tool. Now this is! Even though it's refurbed, mine looked brand new and was packaged with new looking accessories. My buddy and I had been working together every weekend to drill down a new sub floor. I have a pair of nice drills with lead bits, but it was still such a hassle. The difference between this and wrestling with a drill is night and day. I was instantly sold on this tool the first time I pulled the trigger. I let out a surprised "Whoop!", looked up at my buddy and said, "You gotta try this thing!" We spent the next hour taking turns like we were kids with a cool new toy. I guess you roll the dice any time you buy refurb, but I've had good luck so far and this was my best buy yet.
I've just eyeballed the adjustments and everything has worked smoothly, but you do have to put a little well-balanced weight behind it to keep it from sticking. You get a feel for it really quick and shouldn't have any problems after the first 5-10 minutes.

I purchased this January 8, it sat in the box until a few days ago when I opened and used it. Out of the box it would not advance the screws. I read the manual and consulted the trouble shooting guide which suggested adjusting the screw length setting as the fix. I had already set it properly but re-did it which did not help. Regardless of what i have tried the tool will not advance the screws which are Senco's recommended for this tool. Attempted to return to CPO through Amazon but was turned down since 60 days had lapsed since the purchase. They suggested I call the manufacturer since the tool has a 1 year warranty. I understand the 60 day limit but it's a shame considering the tool malfunctions right out of the box. Looking around the web at reviews I see similar complaints regarding non-advancing screws. By the way, the operator's manual is in English and Spanish, but page 13 of the English section explaining the warranty is in Spanish! So unless you speak Spanish you can't even get warranty info from the manual!

I just tested the screw gun on some pieces of scrap 2x4s. The construction is very solid and sturdy. The belt clip is made of plastic while the other rigid tools I own have the little metal clips. It seems thick and sturdy so I hope it holds up during daily use. The operation requires a bit of practice. I found it works best when you pull the trigger to get the bit spinning before pushing down on the gun. That way it feeds better than when you start pushing before engaging the trigger. There is a depth control wheel that you have to dial in for the desired depth of the screw. This is really helpful so when you do sub flooring for example the screw can be set to just pull in enough to leave no mark if you put skinny vinyl floor over it. At the same time it is perfect for drywall installation as this will prevent the screw from going too deep and shooting through the paper and crumbling the drywall. Be aware that you can only use the screws on the plastic strips for this gun. Loose screws wont do you any good. And you cant really "refill" the strips after use as they have a tendency to stretch out. I bought the reconditioned version of the screw gun which works perfect and looks like new (aside from a marking with the word Recon on the rubber housing). The manual states a certain type of collated screws. The plastic band sits flush with the screw head. Apparently there are versions where the plastic band sits below the screw head which will not work. I bought the Senco 08F200Y Duraspin Number 8 by 2 inch deck screws and they feed good. Also to note is the fact that the screws are very straight and stable going in. The first floorboards we did with out little drill needed pilot holes to get them to go in well. No need with this gun. You will have an extremely fast operation and you can operate it single handed. If you are thinking to build a deck or do drywall work that is more than a little patch, get this gun.

4.0 out of 5 stars SCREWS NOT ADVANCING?? READ THIS!!!

OK,so when I 1st received the screwgun I was having the same issues as everyone else, with it not advancing the screws through the material. The bit would spin on top of the screw head and not Screw it in much at aIs specially if i had the gun off angle even a little bit. So what I ended up doing is searching online for a replacement number 2 philips bit and the only place that I found it was at The Home Depot. Be aware that there is actually 2 separate areas where you will find a Ridgid replacement bit within the store so dont be discouraged if you dont find it in the first location. Where they display the tools by brand, there will be a place that only has one of the two replacement bits hanging on the wall above that section. There is not where u need to be if you're looking for the Phillip's bit. You need to be in the "screw" isle of the store which is where you will find our screwgun and the 2 replacement bits. After you install the nex bit, your gun should literally work perfectly. At least mine did! This gun is Absolutely AMAZING after you fix this problem. I'm only giving it 4 stars because this should have been made more clear in the trouble shooting portion of the instructions. This is a simple fix that is actually turning people away from the product because they arent aware of what the problem is. Hopefully this helps you!

5.0 out of 5 stars Works well, once you know how to use it

Take time to set it up right, and watch some YouTube videos of others using it. You have to have the trigger engaged and it "at speed" before you begin to push down. If you push down before engaging the trigger...few screws go in correctly and it ruins bits.

2.0 out of 5 stars Frequent Jams and Missfeeds
Reviewed in the United States on October 20, 2023
My advice is simple - do not purchase this screw gun except for casual use. If you do, be sure to keep a cordless screwdriver with charged battery handy. Despite depth being set correctly, it is seemingly impossible to get through even a single belt of Senco collated screws without experiencing multiple jams. Setting the screw length to slightly longer than actual seems to reduce jams but there are still many missfeeds. The only redeeming value is I seldomly need this device. When I do, I know to be prepared for some frustration and delays.
