Used this guy all weekend. Was looking for lighter weight saw for quicker easier cutting, something that would just get through a 2x4, which is most of my cuts. I have the much beefier, "wormdrive" saw when I need to get into a lot of heavier cutting. This is for when I'm reaching between tools constantly for the job. One handing this thing is really comfortable. Making depth and angle adjustments super easy and very accurate (I do primarily rough work , so bear that in mind). I chopped a bunch of 1xs and 2xs, moving pretty fast, and it did the job. Light enough that a couple of times I hung it on my belt from the rafter hook. Wouldn't leave it there all day, but to free up a hand to drill or adjust something in the middle of a task it was fine.
Tool came in just a blastic bag, no Makita box. Did have manual and smaller Makita bag. I couldn't see any signs of use, so I'm guessing it's an open box deal????????
Gonna pay close attention to it over the next 90 days, but I think it's a winner for what I was looking for.
Update: 5/12/2020
Almost returned this thing, but glad I didn't. It suddenly stopped cutting straight and square. Suddenly had binding issues and cutting at about 5deg when bevel says 0. Looked for how to adjust online, finally had the bright idea to look in the manual. 5 minutes later, saw is zeroed out and cutting straight as an arrow! Gonna hold onto this one!
