I got the Symbol LS2208 because it was on the compatibility list for the Square Terminal. I had my suspicions, and they were confirmed when the LS2208 arrived. Yes, the Symbol is a keyboard wedge scanner - and there's nothing particularly special about it where ANY OTHER NO-NAME KEYBOARD WEDGE SCANNER WOULDN'T HAVE WORKED JUST AS WELL. That said, the $29 price tag for the refurbished LS2208 is in the ballpark of a new, no-name scanner. As for Symbol's brand reputation, I'm not sure that it applies here. I mean, the scanner is clearly a lowest-bidder type affair, without the tank-like build quality of the higher-end models in the line. Still, the unit works flawlessly, and doesn't give the impression that it will fall to pieces if you look at it the wrong way. Plus, the CCD-based design is inherently more reliable than the old laser+galvo approach. I don't know that I'd buy one of these at new, retail prices, but it's a good value at $29. Recommended
