The 1st one arrived heavily damaged from the factory. I received the replacement in perfect condition. The hoof is decent quality but no where at the level of the name brand competitors. The SS is light gauge and dents easily. You can see minor deformities where the switches are cut out due to the thin metal. I had to drill a couple holes in the front to match the replacement mounting configuration and put a small dent where the bend is by lightly contacting the metal with my drill. It's barely noticeable but you can see it in the picture. There's gaps in the seems where a little light shines through and the light shield drops below the bottom of the hood which is unsightly. I decided to get an all plastic bulb and leave the shield off. There's also no outlet damper/trap so you will get outside air coming in if you don't have an external system. However, that's not necessarily a bad thing, especially if the construction of your home is tight. All that said, if you're on a budget this is a fairly decent option. The switches work well and the fan is relatively quite.

The quality of the range vent really stands out, as you can typically expect of the Midea brand! The overall design and even function is very modern and fits well in most decors. The controls work great, although we didn't really find the gesture controls terribly intuitive it does appear to function just fine. As a range, there's absolutely nothing to complain about in terms of performance, we have an external vent straight up about 25ft that requires decent flow to effectively vent and we had no problems with this range! The filters appear to perform well also but time will tell with the grease build up how easy they are to clean, but from the design alone we don't think it'll be any more difficult than others. We typically just boil them in hot water to degrease and then rinse clean and dry.

Overall, very happy with this modern range vent and expect many years of effective service!

This Midea Range hood offers the buyer the best combination of modern look, superior craftsmanship, and value your money can buy. The finish being stainless steel, really makes this hood shine. From a function perspective, my family is very happy. It's suction power is top tier. It fit the cabinet opening, which is 30inches wide - perfectly. Note I have no cabinet wall behind my hood, keep this in mind as the vent pipe needs to sit against the back wall. Otherwise the front corners will stick out (which isn't a huge deal if you can live with that either). Everything you need to replace an old worn out hood is included. Review the dimensions pic to make sure your space will fit this hood. The LED lights are bright, and the gesture controls are definitely unique! Takes a bit of getting used to but once we did we love it.

The good:
-Install was easy enough
-Came with power cable already attached, that's nice
-Functions well enough

The meh:
-I wouldn't call it quiet, but it's not distracting loud. No worse than my old cheap hood.

The bad:
-The LED light is a cruel joke. I have nightlights that are brighter. Easily solved by sticking some strip LED's on the underside of the front edge.

- On recirculate mode it blows straight/slightly downward out the front....right into your face. Annoying but not upsetting. Obviously this will depend on your cabinet height and your height. Between my somewhat low cabinets and I'm 6ft tall, it blows right in my face. I may add a deflector to push the airflow more upwards as the current airflow pattern creates a draft/siphon effect that can pull the steam/smoke towards the front away from the hood.

Eliminating the cons will probably knock you into a significantly higher price range though.
Overall, decent value for the money. Performs significantly better than my old, cheap hood so I'd say I'm satisfied.

The Midea MVT30W9AST Range 30 Inch 450CFM Vent T Shape Stove Hood is a great addition to any kitchen. The 450 CFM venting system is powerful and effective at removing smoke, odors, and grease from the air making cooking a more enjoyable experience. The 5-layer aluminum permanent filter is easy to clean and maintain allowing for a healthier airflow. The T shape design is sleek and modern, yet it does not take up too much space in the kitchen. The LED lights are a lovely feature, as they provide ample illumination over the stove and it makes the entire kitchen look brighter. The controls are easy to use and respond well to touch. The fan has multiple speed options making it easy to adjust the airflow as needed. I appreciate the automatic detection of high temperatures, which helps prevent the hood from overheating. I found the installation to be very easy and quick, and the instructions were clear to follow. Overall, I would recommend the Midea MVT30W9AST Range 30 Inch 450CFM Vent T Shape Stove Hood to anyone looking for a functional, easy-to-use, and stylish vent hood.

While the product looks great, this is a no go for under cabinet install even though such an install is pictured. Unless your cabinets are totally false (just doors). This unit has a large chimney which is flush with the rear surface, meaning you would have to cut out the back of your cabinet to install it flush to the wall. No one would seriously consider that route especially with so many alternatives on the market. The simple solution would have been for the covering and the actual chimney to be separate pieces (as the extension is). Ah well.

UPDATED: the second one received is great. No scratches or dents. Works and looks great!

INITIAL: first one came with a number of dents and scratches on the exposed portion of the hood. I'm waiting for a replacement, which I hope is in better condition. We will see.
