5.0 out of 5 stars Best cooler for longevity and value

This is my third wine refrigerator since I do my own wine collection for long time. The other two are those big name popular brands but became unusable due to expensive price, poor quality and awful design. I’ve researched out many brands of wine coolers before purchase and finally I have given the shot to Whynter brand. So far I am very satisfied with my decision. It is very well designed and constructed, nothing feels cheap or junky. Cooler holds up to 34 bottles with beautiful wooden shelves. It runs super quite and doesn't produce a lot of condensation. The temperature settings held accurate and extremely consistent. The interior lighting is very attractive and it gives off a great soft glow that shows off my wine collection. The cooler also come with cylinder lock which may be useful for commercial use. Another that also stood out for me would have to be the design. I particularly like the stainless steel trimmed glass door. I found that it fits right in with the other stainless steel products in modern kitchen. I have no hesitation to recommend this product. I love this cooler with the black body and stainless steel and glass door. This is my first time to buy Whynter product but I’ve been impressed with their overall great quality and design compared with other brands. Highly recommend it over the other coolers for longevity and value.

Gr8 for the money - a little noisy but keeps good temp - the shelving is a bit flimsy but it’s fine . It’s an inexpensive option -

Overall very impressed with this product. Delivery was in 2 days - Great! Packing was excellent. Appearance is very good. Other comments on capacity are correct. My wine collection is not very elite, and features standard local wines. I would guess that the bottle sizes are not out of the ordinary, but I found that getting 5 bottles side by side on the shelves was a very tight fit. It was doable, but not my cup of tea. This was not a major issue for me as I rarely have more than 24 -28 bottles on hand at any one time, and could squeeze them in w/o any major issues. The light is basically ineffective, especially if you have wine bottles on the top rack. Again, not an issue for me. The temperature control seems to swing through about 3 to 4 degrees (F) which is more than I would have expected (I control at 50 degrees) but still is better than having my wine at 75 degrees (even with A/C running). I have placed this unit in the corner of my dining room which is rarely used, so noise is not a major issue. Overall, I find the unit to be quite quiet, except for occasional "gurgling" noises which can be heard in our kitchen and living room when they occur. This is quite rare, and not a problem. I do wonder about the effectiveness of the insulation, as the outer cabinet seems quite cold to the touch, especially when the compressor is running. I suppose that the need for internal space and/or external cabinet size dictated how much insulation could be applied and the overall impact on operating cost is probably very slight. On that issue, I have not noticed any uptick on my electric bill, which is not surprising, given the small energy imprint this unit has on my home. Again, very pleased with this purchase.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible Experience and product
Reviewed in the United States on June 1, 2019
When this unit arrived I plugged it in it gave me an error code immediately. I looked it up but there was nothing I could do, so I emailed Whynter. Their response was (copied and pasted): "Thank you for contacting us about your Whynter FWC-341TS wine refrigerator. According to your description, the unit was working properly. The unit displays EL Error Code.
Please try to reset the unit by unplugging and restart it in 3 minutes. Please press the POWER button and hold for 5 seconds let us know if the display comes back on. "

Huh? It didn't work from the second I plugged it in and they start by saying the unit was working properly? And this unit doesn't even have a power button.

So I gave up on them and went to amazon where there is a button to click on for "get product support". So I did that and the people I messaged with were nice but had no idea what to do. These were customer support people, not technical product support. Big difference. So ultimately they said they will send me another one and pick up the one that doesn't work. Will be there on Friday, they said. Tracking said Friday. Showed up on Tuesday and they didn't take the one that didn't work. Ugh. 4 days later than expected and they didn't take the first one back...so I had to handle getting rid of that.

OK, plug this one in and it works! Great. Get it in place and start putting bottles in. 5 per row just like they show, right? NO. No matter how I tried to configure the bottles I cannot fit 5 per row. Maximum of 4 per shelf. Maybe when they say 34 bottles they are talking about thinner whites? I only drink red but either way, their claim of 34 bottles false in my case. AND it's pretty loud. It doesn't have to kick on often, but when it does it's like a small airplane is taking off in my kitchen. So annoying.

Let me say that I think this is my first amazon review...that's how bad of an experience this has been. Amazon CSR was not really any help, Whynter customer support was an absolute joke, and the product description is inaccurate. I'm surprised that Amazon even does business with this company. I'm going to request a full refund. Will update on what happens but I would advise against buying this wine refrigerator.
