Consider this your warning if you are considering Kenmore Elite:
Two fridges dead in 5 years. First one an inaccessible coil leak that killed the compressor just past warranty. Didn’t know it leaked until a new compressor $1,200 later leaked right to 0 psi in a week. Dropped $2,000 on a new fridge. Less than 2 years later, the water inlet valve behind the fridge developed a slow leak that destroyed our hardwood floor before it was noticed.
Dishwasher: Just past warranty, the spray arm motor failed along with its seal. Caught that leak before it completely destroyed the hardwood floors. Can’t get buy the part separately, so there’s a $grand down the drain in 2.5 years. The shelf height adjuster, shelf wheel axles, and shelf tines all rot and break apart in short order.
Slide in gas range: half the burners don’t self ignite, even if the contacts are brushed clean. None of the burners adjust to low without the flame going out. Both super dangerous issues.
