I only intended to use this machine for small items like socks, underwear, and undershirts. I think it would also be fine for a pillowcase, baby clothes, or even doll clothes if you had the need to wash something that small that you don't want to have being tossed around in a large washing machine. The instructions are not very thorough, so it did take me a while to get the machine to work. I was touching over the buttons or pressing lightly as if it was a touch control. The control panel felt a little thin and fragile to me, but finally I decided to give the middle button a firm press. That worked, so just know that you do have to press until you feel a slight 'clicky' feeling, there is an actual button under there and it does work if you push it in.
So there are three different cycles to choose from and you can switch from one to the other once the machine is one. The description states that the 5 minute mode is standard cleaning, the 10 minute mode is soft cleaning, and the 3 minute mode is drainage mode. I ran it through four different cycles, 10 minutes each, to wash small items. I filled the machine with warm water, 2/3 of the way full, and I added about a teaspoon of oxyclean powder detergent. I think the 10 minute cycle did about as much as I could do with hand washing, but on the plus side I don't have to tear up my hands in harsh detergents and hot water. Also the blue light is supposed to kill bacteria. Draining was easy since I just had to tote is over to the sink and pull the little plug. It didn't take long to empty. You do have to squeeze the water out of the clothes when they're finished washing, and I just hang mine to dry on a clothes rack.
After the machine is empty, I dried it out with a hand towel, and collapsed it since it's silicone, so it's easy to store. It would be good for travel if you have room to take an item like that, probably for road trips or rvs. As long as you have electricity and water, it will work. I don't think I'd wash anything too dirty or with pet hair in it, because I don't know if you could get the agitator apart if it got clogged up to fix it. This is really just for freshening up and cleaning small items.
