5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Buy!

Been using this machine almost daily for 3 full months and I’m really happy with it! We have 6 people in the household and we all like ice water to drink all day. I’m making right about 10 -15 lbs of ice each day to refill our ice bin in the freezer since we go through it so fast.

MY TIPS:

I recommend before dumping a full basket of ice into your freezer that you tap the “ice machine dispensing bucket” on a clean towel just to get the excess water off the cubes “before” dumping ice cubes into your refrigerator’s freezer bin our the ice cubes tend to stick together. I use a wooden spoon to break up the ice in the freezer bin, each time, I dump the machine’s bucket into my freezer. It will just help to prevent the cubes from sticking together. These cubes do have just enough moisture in them to make them stick together after dumping them into “a more frozen” ice bin. So that’s the main drawback but easily solved by briefly breaking the cubes apart with a wooden spoon each dumping. After that routine, the cubes are ready to serve and scoop up more loosely.

We have a really good water purification system so the cubes from this machine are crystal clear with no tap water taste so taste will be based on the water you’re pouring into this machine. The machine does not determine the taste, it’s all about the water you’re using bottom line.

The noise level, is a low hum, and there is warm air that the machine blows into the room it’s in. If you don’t want it, to add warm air into the room, put the machine outside on a shaded patio.

Lastly, drain and dry the inside of the ice maker when done and leave the top door open the so it can, completely dry out, or…mildew can develop…if you are trapping any moisture in it while not in use.

Following these usage needs tips will help you to I love this machine! 20-25 lbs in 24 hours is accurate estimate. I make ice and store it in advance of a gathering.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! I'm impressed!

To be honest, after having owned a restaurant and buying and using commercial ice makers, I really didn't have much expectations with these.

The price was very inexpensive for what it promises to do so I went ahead and bit the bullet just to try it out. I've been using it for about 2-3 weeks straight now and I gotta say, I'm IMPRESSED!

The unit is bulkier than what pictures may seem. But that's ok as I've got plenty of space for it. When they say it makes ice in as little as 6-7 minutes, it wasn't lying. However, the first batch isn't the greatest. Still, it was quite amazing. It's fairly loud when running, but tolerable. I would say it's quieter than most dishwasher for sure. I leave it running all the time. When the ice bin is full, I'd say it's enough ice for 2 tall glasses if filled up almost all the way. So it's not meant to produce ice for a party, but 3-4 people no problem. If you have kids too then they can wait another 20-30 minutes for theirs. You of course don't have to wait for the bin to fill up, so if you're in a hurry less than 10 minutes and you'd got another batch.

You can choose small or large ice sizes. I prefer the large as it melts a lot slower. The ice maker itself doesn't have a water filter, but I'm glad it doesn't cause that'll be one more thing to upkeep. So I just use a Brita water filter pincher I keep in the fridge to fill it up. Filling it up is extremely easy as well, you just open the lid, lift the ice bin and pour water in. There is a MAX marked line that is very easy to see so you'd know never to overfill it. There is a red light that comes on when water is running low too, which is really useful because it's bright enough to see from far. Each fill produces quite a bit of ice so it's not something you'd have to do often. Also, I've tried it with water from the tap and the ice tastes amazing... using ice from the filtered pincher makes it taste PERFECT!! Also, speaking about the pincher I use to fill it, because I keep it in the fridge, it helps speed up the ice making process tremendously. I've never timed it to see how much faster it is, but I will say it's kept up easily with the ice usage in my household. So that's something I recommend.

I haven't had it long enough to speak on it's longevity, but so far for the price and what it does it's been a SUPER awesome purchase!

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent renewable source of hollow ice nuggets.
Reviewed in the United States on June 15, 2021
I bought this in hopes of having ready-made ice on demand in my upstairs office. It does actually provide a steady, reliable stream of ice nuggets. The ice is formed in a compressor with 7 or 8 metal nubs that stick out and give a surface for ice to form around. In less than ten minutes, the ice nuggets are ready. The unit dumps them off the metal fingers into the basket, where they stay until you use them or until they slowly melt into the reservoir of water below the basket. That reservoir supplies the water that is pumped up into the compressor to form new ice. If you leave the unit running all day, the ice will form, fall into the basket, slowly melt into the reservoir, and then be re-frozen into new ice. You need to pour new water into the reservoir occasionally to replace the water in ice than you use and that which may have evaporated.

It works. It works well. It's not hard to figure out or to set up, although the unit itself is pretty heavy and hard to get out of its box and up onto the counter.

I used it for a month or six weeks, then just drained it and let it sit. Why? Well, I drink soda all day long as I work at my computer. I pour a bottle or can of soda over a thermal mug full of ice, then drink it by sipping it over the next hour or so. The ice from this machine doesn't work well for that. The hollow nuggets are not very thick, so they begin to melt almost immediately. Even in a thermal mug, they melt fairly quickly and dilute the soda quickly. If I were drinking water, it would be great. Or it would work well with some other mixed substance (like Crystal Light powder mix or Mio). I'd just mix the initial mix with less water, making it quite strong at first. The melting would dilute it into a tasty drink over the next hour.

The day may come when my hydration habits change, and then this very effective machine might be just what I need. But not right now.
