Works but it's slow

Decent ice maker but it's a bit on the slow side. Setup was pretty quick with nothing more than a quick clean but it clearly tells you to let it sit for a couple of hours to let the refrigerant settle (which is a good practice for anything with a compressor and refrigerant). What isn't that great is that they clearly tell you not to ever transport the unit upside down or on it's sides but the shipping box isn't labeled so no telling what UPS did. As far as functionality goes, it makes a small batch every 6-8 minutes depending on the size of the nuggets, which is just enough for a single beverage. The size also does not vary by that much as well. Basically the exact same shape but they are just a little thicker. I've also found that the smaller nuggets seem to melt much faster but the good side is that, as they melt, the water just recycles and drips back into the feed tank to be repurposed again. The GoVee app is actually pretty intuitive and reflects every function on the unit. Nice that it provides alerts when the water level is low and/or if the unit is full of ice. Alexa integration is nice however it's pretty limited to basically turning the unit on/off. Lastly, the unit is not quiet by any means. It's not loud but in a quiet house you can definitely hear the compressor running even from the next room over. It's a low hum but it's definitely there. Overall, it's not a bad unit. For a very small family or gathering, it might prove useful. For a larger gathering or family, you would be better off going to the store and getting a bag of ice. For the price, I just don't see the value in something like this. Running an additional appliance just for the sake of a handful of ice here and there seems like a waste but other users may disagree. If it ran faster I might change my mind but for now I just don't see it.

As someone whose wife loves crushed ice, we have tried a lot of different ice makers with varying degrees of success. We had the GE opal, an LG one and both of them broke within a year of purchase and would freeze over. This item has proved us not all ice makers are the same! The build quality, ease of use and price are all important factors that make the easily one of the best if one the best ice makers we have owned. If you’re looking for a great product just give this a chance and buy one, you won’t regret it.
