5.0 out of 5 stars Great Ice Machine

Love how quickly I can have 'good' ice at home! The machine is a little noisy but other than that, no complaints. I've been operating it non-stop since I got it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Neat little ice maker; I love the soft-cruncy ice nuggets!

This is a neat little counter-top icemaker. It is my second countertop icemaker, so I have one to compare it to - that's not a lot, but at least it's something for comparison. This one is smaller than my previous ice maker. This works out fine because I like that it takes up less room, and I am really the only one who uses it. My other family members prefer the larger cubes the refrigerator dispenses. This icemaker makes small ice pellets that are semi-soft and semi-crunchy. Personally, I love the soft-crunchy ice from this icemaker. I am hooked on it and am actually snacking on ice, eating it out of my cup with a spoon (no telling how many calories this has saved me). This icemaker is small so it might service 2-3 people depending upon how often you fill your cups and how dedicated you are to refilling the icemaker with water to keep it producing ice. Once it gets going, it does make ice at a decent rate but don't count on it producing a large amount for a party. We did use it to freeze a bunch of ice in advance (we put it in gallon ziplock bags in stored it in the freezer) and that did come in handy when we had guests, because our refrigerator icemaker is small and slow so it can't keep up when we have guests.

This icemaker has a smart, easy-to-use design similar to my previous icemaker: just pour water into the reservoir, put the basket in place and close the lid. As ice is formed, it falls into the basket so you can scoop it up with the included scoop. The basket has drainage holes in it so any ice that melts will drip back into the reservoir to be made into ice again. There's a control button on the front of the machine to turn it on and off, and this button also lets you know when the ice bin is full (it automatically stops making ice at that point) or when the reservoir needs to be refilled.

Do keep in mind that this icemaker doesn't have a freezer compartment, meaning that it freezes water into ice pellets but doesn't keep them frozen. You'll need to either use the ice, bag it up and put it in your freezer for later, or allow it to melt and go through the pellet-freezing process again. The icemaker bin is fairly well insulated so the ice doesn't melt right away; of course, depending upon the air temperature around your icemaker, the ice may last awhile or melt more quickly.

The ice maker does need to be cleaned regularly, but it's not too much of a production. To clean it, first drain it (there's a small plug in the bottom which works fine but is not as convenient a set-up as my old icemaker). I then wipe out the reservoir with diluted beach water, and run a reservoir-full of bleach water through the icemaker a couple of times using the "clean" cycle which is simply the touch of a button. Then run clear water through the icemaker a couple of times, also using the "clean cycle." Then drain, wipe out again, and it's ready to used for ice making again.

Overall, I like this icemaker's small footprint, ease of use, and decently fast production of ice pellets. And I love the size and texture of these ice pellets -- they're small and soft yet crunchy, similar to ice from Sonic and some other fast-food restaurants.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect!
Reviewed in the United States on September 11, 2024
This ice maker is almost perfect for us. The size is great, it takes up a little counter space and will generate a fair bit of heat but is not much bigger than a knife block, which is great. The only reason I have only given it 4 stars is that ours makes the very annoyingly loud hum/vibration for the first few minutes of operation that others have noted int he Reviews. My guess is that it is the compressor pump trying to bring the refrigerant under pressure for efficient cooling. Literally after a few minutes, the ice maker is whisper quiet as expected. As promised, the first nuggets of ice start falling into the collection bin right at the 6min mark and it will continue making ice until gravity can no longer allow ice to fall and then it will shut off. Because of the annoyingly loud vibration sound, we have done what others suggested and turn it off after it has filled the collection bin until it is low, and then turn it back on to fill the tray again. Super simple, but defeats the purpose of having the ice maker on all the time as expected.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nugget Ice!

Everything about making and having nugget ice when you want it is great. Ok so, this is a bit loud when it's on but we keep it in the pantry and can't really hear it. There is a limit on how much delicious amazing nugget ice it makes, so no you can't make nugget ice for 10+ people, unless you figure out a way to store it someplace else like a stainless steel water bottle. I love the self cleaning function, which can be an issue with these ice machines. You need to keep them clean and dry when not in use.
NUGGET ICE! It's really great.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Ice" Me Out
Reviewed in the United States on August 15, 2024
I love this little icemaker. I ordered it to go on our bar in the basement for when we have guest over (we have an icemaker on our fridge we use when we want ice). Though it is portable (which is nice), we have not moved it from the bar since we got it. It is not "as" light as I thought it would be so no way I would want to port this around just because and would have to be a special reason why I would take it somewhere else.

Set up is easy and it is even easier to get it going - just add water to the tank and push one button. It makes a good amount of ice after it starts making it and the basket holds quite a bit of the small circle-like ice. Once you turn it off the ice does last a good while sitting. The good thing is it reuses the melted water from the ice when you turn it back on so you don't have to add more water to the tank unless it is completely empty or you want a whole lot of ice made again. It also tells you when to add water to maek more ice. I really like it comes with a scooper so it can be handsfree and contaminate the ice with germs (esp since the water goes back to the tank as it melts.
