There are many things we like about this range - oven is awesome, the cooktop is rapid (better be watchful or pan of water will boil dry in 3 minutes). It's very attractive. But......
First problem: oven would not turn on right out of the box. It took about 3 weeks for a warrenty part to arrive and another 2 weeks to get it installed. No problems since, but the oven has likely been used less than 100 hours. OK, I can give them a pass on a one-off quality control issue.
BUT NOW A CRITICAL AND DISABLING PROBLEM: after not more than 500 hours of use, the SINGLE large burner in the range lost all power after a pop sound. Induction ranges have expected life of 10,000 hours. Learned today from ZLine that THE RANGE TOP IS NOT SERVICABLE AND THERE ARE NO REPLACEMENT PARTS. Though offered a partial refund, living with a $4200 range that now has only three 7" elements operational, and the only larger element forever dead, really sucks.
This exact same RAIND-36 is still marketed on Zline website and through multiple vendors. It should be made clear that if you have a problem with a power module on the range then you can just live with the elements that work (until they don't) or you can throw the entire thing into scrap metal recycling, and start all over again. To continue to market a range that is unreliable, not durable and not repairable is unconscionable. I wanted to support a local and family run business, but I'm never going to consider a major appliance from Zline again. A one year warranty on a major appliance that can not be serviced or repaired? Run, don't walk.
So basically, we now have a very expensive but severly handicapped range top. You have to understand that with an induction range, ONLY the part of the pan in contact with the burner will heat up, the non-contact parts do not heat up. So if you put a 12" frying pan on a 6 or 7" element, you're going to cook (or burn) everything in the center 6" and not cook at all anything that is outside the diameter of the burner. It's not like the remaining burners will compensate like they could in a gas or electric range.
