5.0 out of 5 stars We love it!

Our electric Viking cooktop was junk so we decided to explore induction cook tops. We were not sure if we would like cooking with induction so I decided to buy this one for less than $400 and give it a try. I didn’t expect this one to work well or last, it was mostly just to test drive induction without investing a lot of money. We figured if we didn’t like induction we would just go to gas or back to electric and only be out 400 bucks. We ended up loving the induction cooking but better yet, we really like this cook top. No reason to go out and buy a name brand for $3000! This thing works great! Easy drop in install and no issues after 1 plus years of use. And now I see it’s even cheaper. The only issue that has come up is that, when you drip water on the controls all sorts of weird stuff happens. No big deal just wipe and re-enter. Really like the induction cooking and recommend silicone cooking mats to put on top of the “burners” to perfect the glass. Sometimes we just put down a paper towel between the pan and the glass…..pretty neat and it still looks great.

I give 4 stars because the documentation and Amazon support was poor. The top line in Amazon product desc says 36” Cooktop. I’m replacing a 36” 18 year old Kenmore. The new one is NOT 36” (35.43”) and required a lot of work to reduce countertop hole. My Kenmore had red, black & green power input wires like US std. This cooktop has blue, brown & green. I was confused that one label had two L lines but other had L & N. I got past layers of menus to speak to Amazon tech who couldn’t help and didn’t call back. SingleHomie has no website or online doc. Amazon has reviews but no Q&A. I learned that since I have two wires, each with 120 vac to ground (and 240 vac between them) the blue and brown colors don’t matter. Page 7 describes using the touch controls but fails to say apply gentle finger pressure FOR 3 Seconds to turn it on. I believe they built in a delay to accidentally not turn it on. Page 18 in manual has two paragraphs about “fixing brackets”. No pics, no brackets included and Amazon tech can’t talk to China. What looks like a metal glass scraper is included but no mention in manual. Page 17 says a min of 5cm shall be preserved around the hole. Each side has small spring clips to assure a tight fit and I think they meant leave 5mm. They call the cooktop a “hob”. Controls are much different than my old one but after one meal I like them. The cost was about 1/3 to 1/6 similar US & European ones. I like how two burners can be shared for a long skillet. Hope it lasts 18 years like my Kenmore.

So far so good. Originally I had a traditional 30 inch cooktop. So out comes the saws. I liked the look of the 36 inch better. The price is great. I didn’t want to spend another $2500 for just a name and same features. Time Will tell on quality, but for the price I will take a gamble.
I like the temperature controls. 30 seconds is all it took to figure out how they operate. Safety is built in, so you don’t accidentally change something without knowing. You have to click on the burner you what to change the heat setting, then you may proceed to change it. You can plus, or minus, or just place you finger on the bar and move it left or right depending desired heat. Again in no time you will master it.
Cleaning is pretty easy. I had some eggs spill over and we’ll harden up after cooking off. I have a little plastic wedge that broke it free with very little effort. After that sprayed it with a glass cleaner and paper towel and it looks brand new.
So you hear a little hum when it cooks. I literally forget about it pretty quick, but you will hear it when boiling water or click on and off while cooking pasta. I cook with a thermal temp gun, and once you learn your desired heat to the accompanying number it stays pretty true.
I don’t have kids so I never played around with it, but if it is like everything else on this cooktop it is probably well thought out.
As an after thought I will mention I installed this by myself, but it has weight to it. You will definitely know this when Amazon drops it off for you. They do a great job in packing it for shipping. So far I would buy this same one again

3.0 out of 5 stars cooking magnets way to small
Reviewed in the United States on November 4, 2024
I purchased the 36-inch induction cooktop, and overall, I’m satisfied with it, especially considering it was a great value compared to other induction cooktops that can cost two to three times as much. It’s been reliable and still works well.

However, there are a couple of drawbacks. The biggest issue is the size of the magnets—they’re quite small, meaning this cooktop is best suited for smaller pots and pans. Larger cookware doesn’t heat evenly, leaving food on the outer edges undercooked while the center gets overcooked. A larger magnet would have made this much more versatile. While models with larger magnets are available, they’re significantly more expensive, so I guess this is a trade-off for the price.

Another thing to note: if water boils over and gets on the cooktop, all burners stop working until the surface is completely dry. It’s frustrating, but manageable as long as you’re careful to avoid spills.

Overall, I’m still happy with the purchase, especially given its lower price point, and would recommend it as a budget-friendly induction option with a few quirks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works Perfectly!

This is a really good value, costing hundreds of dollars less than similar items at the local big box stores. This unit cooks much faster than a typical resistance top while using less energy. I spent a few minutes reading the manual... after trying to figure out how to turn this on. Now all makes sense.

Each unit cycles on and off at a rate depending on the 1-9 heat selection. This cycling is barely audible above the sound of the cooking. After turning off all burners, an under-surface fan stays on until the smooth glass surface has cooled. A warning light will indicate that the surface still is warm. Cleanup is easy.

I'll never go back to resistance or gas.
