5.0 out of 5 stars Good low cost induction cooktop
Reviewed in the United States on March 6, 2021
    Pro:
Boils water faster than anything short of a nuclear reactor.
Low simmer works well (better than most gas/electric I've used)
Easy to clean, food doesn't burn onto the surface.
Makes cool "space ship" noises while you're cooking
    Con:
No UL or CSA safety ratings that I can find.
    Have to buy induction cookware.
Minimal user manual and overly complex user interface.
Touch controls don't handle getting wet very well.

I've mostly used consumer grade gas cooktops and the last few years a radiant electric. This is my first induction cooktop. I choose it based on price, it was a fraction of big name ones at the local store, and decent reviews. It's been in use a few months now and we're very satisfied with it. We are using a new set of Circulon cookware we bought plus some cast iron that was on hand. Sorry to lose all the Revere pans that have been in the fam for generations but they don't work on induction.

It boils water really fast on the highest boost setting. For 3 quarts or less you can literally stand there and watch it come to a boil. We learned the hard way don't walk off even for a moment with something on the higher settings. It heats way faster than the radiant electric it replaced and faster than the gas tops I've used in the past. The heat settings are 1-9 plus boost. The lowest settings simmer nice and low. At the low end settings I wouldn't mind a couple finer adjustments and a faster on/off cycle for the burner to keep the heat a little more consistent.

We were constantly scraping and scrubbing the radiant cooktop to remove burnt on food and water marks. Compared to that this induction top is super easy to clean, spills don't burn onto the cooler surface. The only issue when cleaning is the touch controls. I have to carefully clean everywhere else leaving the touch controls dry. Then I clean the touch control area, it's almost impossible to clean the touch controls without the cooktop going on & off crazily as you wipe over the surface. What makes this tolerable is nothing gets hot without a pan on it.

Sounds: It has cooling fans for the electronics. The induction burners make buzzing/whirring/clicking sounds in operation. Nothing is too loud and we kinda like the sci-fi sound effects.

The user manual is very minimal both for installation and operation. There was a cardboard template for the countertop cutout but little else on installation. I couldn't find a recommended breaker size anywhere. I ended up sticking with the 40A breaker the previous radiant cooktop used. The manual explains the controls and how to do power boost, etc. The interface could be simpler but after the first week it made little difference. Some functions like BBQ the manual tells how to activate it, but nothing about what it is or using it. (BBQ bridges front and rear burners together but only at a fixed high temp setting. The temp was too high for my cast iron griddle so I consider BBQ function worthless).

Their were no UL or CSA certifications anywhere I could find on the cooktop, the cord or the box. Certifications are not required for residential use in my area but it would be nice to see them. Certification costs money and time so I guess that might be one of the reasons this cooktop is 1/3 the price of most others I looked at.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, affordable induction stovetop
Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2023
This is my second induction stovetop (I managed to break the 1st). With five zones, this is a nice upgrade over my previous 4 zones, the primary reason why I bought it. I also like that you can combine two each left and right zones into one large, for extra large pots I have and I bought a griddle for searing steaks if it rains.

Many people complain about the controls turning off when wet, this is normal and every electronic control stovetop will do this, this one is actually less sensitive than my last one.

The device was easy to install, especially if you are replacing an older unit and all you have to do is switch the wires.

A few things that could be better:

    * The top has problems with really small pots and pans, especially aluminum with iron core. I have a 6 inch diameter Calphalon pot where the top keeps turning off, especially at medium settings, it works better at high. The same for a small alu pan with iron core, the problem is that the iron is only in the bottom, not the sides. The larger versions of these work just fine, so does any cast iron device I have, including a wok that has only a 4 inch base (but tapers out).

    * The controls are quick and easy to use, but adjusting from 8 to 7 is finicky, it almost always overshoots to 6 and I have to tweak my finger position to get the setting I want.

    * Some controls are counter-intuitive. There is no off button for the zones, if you press the "-" sign, it goes to setting 1, does not turn off. You have to press and hold the - sign to turn it off, and likewise press and hold the + sign to go into power mode.

    * The power supply for each zone is pulsing a bit more than I like. On my old stovetop, a certain setting maintained the power more constantly. This one here tends to pulse, you can see the liquid boiling up, stopping, boiling up again, stopping etc. No big deal, it keeps the average heat but not very smoothly.

Overall, I like it, it looks sharp and the zone arrangement is excellent for a 30 inch top, beats 90% of the available induction stovetops by filling the available space.

was a wee bit nervous. only one actual review on this model. and it trashed it. said they could not get wiring to work. well... we have wired our entire house with perfect inspections to all of it. and this was a walk in the park. you have to have knowledge on what you are doing. and be prepared to work with 220/240. AND have a dedicated circuit for it. it does make a fan noise when it is on. all expected. it works. pure and simple. it cooks fast. it cooks cleanly. and clean up is a breeze. i just taught a 7 and 9 year old how to use it. and they got it. and did great. only think i noticed? i expected a square grid for heating surface. when i put the long griddle on and use the bbq function, i get heat all through the long griddle. but with 2 distinct circles. i am truly in love.
